greenman ive done both journeys and im not sure its cheaper to hire car in south and the drive north . when you consider euro conversion, extra insurance at the crossing and then the implications of insurance driving in the north ,not to mention if you had accident or breakdown ?. lots of great car hire companys in the north for me ,that offer excellent advice and service. last time i did the larnaca trip they mysteriously changed my car at the last minute when they found i was going north ,it was a right knacker and drove like a bag of s...t kav

Kavenkoy, What euro conversion? You pay in the UK in pounds. Your experience was totally different to mine. Picked up the car at Larnaca airport. It was relatively new and low mileage. Had an easy drive to the checkpoint where I bought my insurance and drove through to Kyrenia. The costs for that part of the journey were much less than the £60 paid by climakool, so already saving. The beauty of hiring in the south is that you can then make trips both sides of the checkpoint without problems. greenman

hi greenman when i paid it was advertised in £s ,yet as euro is the national currency in south they only accepted euros. when i went to the crossing they also only accepted euros ?. so what im trying to say is the £ vs eruos conversion wasnt in my favour . i do beleive you can go south as many times as you want whilst on holiday ,but again as above that really isnt that cheap .So when you add it all up and where or if you intend to travel lots or just relax in the north . at approx £16 per day for a car hire north ,i think its better value . just my opinion though greenman . thanks kav

Hi Kavenkoy, Just done a quick search in easycar for September and came with this comparison: 2 weeks with pick-up at Larnaca is £226 (paid in GBP not euros) add north insurance (£20??) Total £246 2 weeks N Cyprus car hire £224 (your figures) Airport transfer £120 (climakool figure) Total £344 Know which one I would choose. greenman

greenman you do not compare apples for apples ?. a ford ka with 3rd part insurance is £224 ,i have a focus automatic for my price etc . i see if you want last week aug first week sept its £340 for a fiesta ,plus £75 upgrade insurance (which will only cover ib SC i think?) .also i think £20 for 2 weeks border insuarnce is also under estimated slightly i see some NC car hire companys if you hire with them for 1 week or more give reduced or free transfers also . just know which one i would choose kav
