Amazing stories of a Kings Gold found 10 years ago in his tomb by Akdeniz village is stuff of legend and maybe the area has more buried gold. We looked round the dug up kings tomb and everyone was amazed to see a freshly dug tomb with human bones scattered around. No metal detectors allowed by law. Chico had been there a week before looking at pre 74 land for sale. The newly dug tomb had not been there then. Fantastic area. I think new discoveries of historical importance are yet to occur.

Tasty lamb kebab on the long relatively undiscovered nearby beach and raki and coffee in a wonderful valley nearby.

=> Did you make some pictures and report your discovery to the Police? The authorities are very keen to catch illegal diggers and grave robbers - and rightly so. Too much of Cyprus' heritage was stolen already and moved to private collections abroad.

With regard to the above,-have you seen the newly exposed burial chambers where the track has been washed away on the way down to old Lambousa,- left at Mare Monte, then park and walk. Looks as though there's been some recent digging and sifting there. Wonder if authorities have been informed,- archeology, antiquities etc.

Hi Hans..I think Salih did ring someone in authority but I'm not sure who he rang. Will now check the history.

Well done, Corbo! I don't want to be holier than thou, but let's not hesitate to inform the Police when we see or hear about robbers of Cyprus' heritage!

Wasn't this the tomb in the Cyprus Today a few weeks back at Akdeniz,[Kings tomb] with photo's of the fresh dig inside. There have been other tombs dug without permission on this site up by the wooded area towards the sea.The government know about these also. Will look through my old newspapers and check.
