For those interested in other things besides Efes....It has been confirmed as of last night the Pheonix Mars probe has confirmed ICE inches under the dusty earth surface!

This is incredible news and fascinating dont you think that this data and clear photos are being beamed back to earth 422 million miles away! And it takes 17 mintues to receive this data back!



Now go and pour another Efes or G & T and have a think about it!

three points



firstly there will now be ice available on mars for your gin and tonic



secondly provided they can fix a problem with a sticking oven door

(yes that is on my snagging list too I kid you not,

and our developer's best landscaping efforts have made little impact

either on the surrounding "martian" landscape)

analysis will reveal whether the ice was ever liquid water,

this is most likely, due to the water-eroded martian topography



lastly, what is held in the water?

ie certain organic chemicals would indicate possible onetime bacteria,

and er... carbon dioxide, bad news because it would suggest

mars' early oceans were made of fizzy water (quite likely apparently)

making the chance of life having developed rather uh... unlikely

but first rate for your scotch and soda
