I'm usually very careful with my security both online and when using my card, so was very surprised to find that almost £600 had been taken from my account. Nationwide sent me a letter to say they were stopping my card transactions and to contact them to verify the authenticity of the withdrawals. Now I know I'm getting old and cynical, but what then followed was a heavy sales pitch for a card protection scheme (which I must say sounded very comprehensive) but ..... the thought went through my head as to whether the two incidents (the unauthorised withdrawal) and the sales pitch were linked by nothing more than the banks desire to protect me as their customer, and not to line their pockets. Has anyone else had a similar experience with Nationwide?

So what are you suggesting exactly? Surely not that that Nationwide may have 'taken' the money to then persuade you to take out card protection!!!

No, when I had money fraudulently taken from my account Nationwide sorted it out and paid the money back.

Never use Nationwide for transferring funds from the UK to another bank in the TRNC they havnt a clue what they are doing and you are landed with charges levied by Turkish bank for their cock up. NOT a real bank----still a building society trying to play at being one of the big boys.
