Who can tell me the best place to have fish & chips. It does not matter to me, the distance I have to travel. I am in Karsiyaka. And I mean Haddock.

Cod Baba in Karaoglanolu is BRILLIANT. Wonderful food, well presented and including haddock . They are really nice people and I recommend most highly.

BTW, I am NOT a relative, nor employee or relative! go and see for yourself

In the north Cod Baba gets our vote! Both Cod and Haddock in good batter. Proper chips and every piece of fish freshly cooked... Outstanding value.

The best on the island is at Dhekelia, Lambros restaurant by the sea on the SBA... that's the best I've tasted anywhere in the world! If you find yourself over that way, plan in a trip to Lambros... a special experience.

Ravine at Alsancak, tried the rest and this is the best, by far, a huge plateful and with mushy peas, chip shop pickles and gerkins, lovely chunky chips, my hubby had a chip shop in the UK and he rates Ravine as the best on the island! They do different varieties of fish too. We were there on Sunday, always fab x

RAVINE by a mile, was in the wet fish industry for 24 years in the UK, tried Cod Baba once and it was awful although that was 2 years ago so no doubt it has improved since, the Ravine very good probably as close to Grimsby fish n' chips as you will get here.

Never going to Cod Baba again. Had fish that was going off (all orange inside). Didn`t even change it. Said there was nothing wrong with it but it had been defrosted too quickly!!!!!!

In my humble opinion the best fish and chips are at the Old Mill in Ozankoy, worth the trip.

Ravine do take away as well.

Our neighbours had a take away from Rivada and when he got home and opened them it was so small he rang them and complained, he said he could count the chips on one hand!!

If you want decent haddock, fresh landed you will have to go to any chippie in the north east of Scotland. You did say you were prepared to travel ! My favourites are Ian's in Lerwick and the one in St. Combs who also do home made ice cream to die for.

Rivada in Alsancak does absolutely lovely fish chips and mushy peas !!!!!!! Have tried several other places but ONLY ever use Rivada now - mum is over from the UK at the moment and she said that the fish and chips at Rivada are just like any really good british chippy.

Scubadoo. I dont doubt your time in the fish industry. But fish and chip shops in and around Grimsby are not as good as they used to be because all the good fish landed in GY is now sold direct to Southern fish mongers for the top restaurants in London who will pay top money, then the local fish shops are left with the small fry.

It really makes no sense as Lincolnshire produces lots of potatoes and also has the GY fish docks.

But the potatoes now in Lincolnshire are mostly grown organically for Tesco and Sainsbury etc and the local chip shops cant afford to buy organic tates or compete with southern fish mongers.

Well they can but who in Lincolnshire would pay £10.00 for Fish and Chips??

Crazy Really.

Groucho recomends a fantastic place in Lambors at Dhekelia. It really is fantastic and by far the best on the island with a choice of haddock of cod.
