Had a sighting of two dolphins this moring about 100 yards off shore, they were in front of our villa just below Esentepe. Tried to take a photo but the sun was in the viewing area, did any one else have this pleasure?

How fantastic -lucky you !

We also have a fabulous sea view as we are just below Esentepe village facing the sea, but so far have only seen varoius fishing craft and the daily mainland ferry !!! (mind you, as we are only there for short holidays, this limits our chances of seeing something so amazing !!!)

I will keep the binoculars and telescope handy and trained however, in case we get lucky in future !!!

Dolphins are drowned almost every time the purseiners haul in a catch of tuna - so you've probably tasted dolphin already, Tony!

it is very nice seeing these so intelligent creatures, and yes, tenakoutou is right... thats one reason why I and my family have quit eating tuna for years now!

discussions at CITES about banning the hunt and trade on bluefin tuna turned out nagative a few days ago. Its a shame! think twice before you eat / hunt tuna the next time. This years CITES conference is a desaster for Marine life and our worlds eco system!

no ban on blue fin tuna: http://www.projectaware.org/knowledgebase/details.php?pid=86&id=263

corals trade allowed, no more protection!: http://www.projectaware.org/knowledgebase/details.php?pid=86&id=262

sharks will still be hunted: http://www.projectaware.org/knowledgebase/details.php?pid=86&id=264

Happy Fish eatingzzz..

There was a pod of about 8 about 300m off the shore at Lefke on Saturday morning!

I've been watching here at Karsiyaka for a few years now, and still hoping!
