Can any one advise on the procedure for making a will in NC, is it the same as the UK, so far as leaving property to our children. We will only be using our property has a holiday home not redential. Watty

Hi Watty Yes it is but just to make sure everything is worded correctly you really need to take legal advice. Your UK will is not recognised in NC. Karen

Mornin Wyn Free effes at a black country lads wake, get a grip, you should know that would never be on. No feeling ok for a monday morning, only had about 13 pints of ma pardos lumphammer yesterday, not much crack going on, you know what i mean.I hope it will be better at your shindig in September, better tell the host to get plenty of the golden nectar in. With all the anomolies which seem to arise with different laws from the uk to nc it seems best to get things done and dusted to stop any problems at a later date, not wishing to sound an old fart. Just remember Wyn look after the kids they decide which nursing home you go in. Watty

Watty, Any idea what a reasonable charge is for a will as i am about to ask my lawyer to prepare one and he usually charges like a "raging bull". Thanks, Brian

Hi Mackeral Just had the details from my solicitor Nahomi Mehmet and they have qouted £100 per will. This covers drawing up the will and a visit to the probate registrar at the court. Just need your passport. Hope this helps, Watty

Naomi did our wills. Very easy. She sent us the drafts in the UK so when we got to her office the official ones were drawn up we signed and then went off to the registry to register them. Cost £100 per person and we bought back a copy and gave it to our UK lawyers to hold with our UK wills.
