I love this sign photographed on Herbert Samuel Street, the main road following the coast from north to south in Tel Aviv:

Hope the link works, otherwise I will send it to Dc to see if he can do anything with it!

Hi Sloan! The link you posted requires visitors to log in - not everyone wants to do that. Mail me the photo!

Hope you enjoy the rare rainy weather in TA. It puzzles me what you've seen over there as I drive this road at least once a month

You may well see a TRNC sign promoting trade and tourism.

What certainly you wont see is a sign promoting trade and tourism to Gaza.

And what you will certainly see is signs selling houses on Palestinian land (Oh were has Hippo heard that before)

Then of course Cyprus isn't Israel, the nation that seams to get away with everything.

The UN still recognises them.

I am glad that Turkey has seen them for what they are and protested vehemently against building of houses in East Jerusalem.

Their treatment of the population of Gaza the Ghettoization of the West Bank.

Thanks, DC. Have sent you the link. Delighted to hear about Dylan, Liz. He is such a beautiful dog and did need a permanent home. His new owners will find him to be a delight. It was a pleasure to help out with him.

Yes, Mags .. couldn't believe where that rain came from yesterday morning but it did not last long. Woken up to rain this morning, but Accuweather tells me it should just be showers and that the forecast for the rest of the week is better ... ever the optimist. The office was near the big hotels in a really prestigeous spot. We were amazed to see it. Will locate it more accurately next time we walk past.

Belfast and Northern Ireland as bad as it was and the suffering that was experienced by both sides can never approach the oppression suffered by the Palestinians as a result of Israeli aggression.

Hippo get your facts right 3 times Israel was had to fight for its survival to stop them being wipped oof the face of the map against 6 countries so they have no right to defend themselfs against aggresors ?

Hippo, we obviously don't share the same view on the wall, you seem to see only one side of this wall. May I suggest you also look at this wall from the Israeli side? It's more or less a multiple-choice question: a) the Israelis built this wall to keep Israelis in Israel, b) the Israelis built this wall to keep Palestinians and Arabs out - for some reason. (*).

(*) Since this wall was built there has been few or no suicide attacks within Israel. Every wall has two sides, Hippo.

Totally agree with Hippo, those murdering Israeli ----- are getting away with everything, almost as bad as what Hitler did to the Jews. Since when is defending yourselves raising Gaza to the ground, placing the Palestinians in Ghettos and taking their land when they please. No wonder the Palestinians have reacted the way they have, wouldn't you when someone treats you so badly and takes away any semblence of dignity.

Tanwg there are alwawys 3 sides to every story their side the other side and the truth ,from what you are saying there is only one side and that is your opinion and you are entiteled to it ,however how would you feel if a suicide bomber detonated his bomb on a school bus killing 40 children could you justfiy this under any curcumstances i dont think so. I am not saying any side is inocent but people that do this kind of thing are not that easy to negotiate with or do you think that this kind of thing is acceptable.

You can loosely liken the scenario to the Cyprus Island problems. North Cyprus have their boundaries as defined bythe 1974 'intervention'. How would you all feel if the South did come in and 'change' the borders!!!!!!!! A war was fought and land was 'won'. End of story. As it is here in North Cyprus. Much propoganda floating around how bad the Turk Cyps are, same as much propoganda is put out about Israel. 'They' want you to see, what they want you to see, and some fall for it. Don't let the 'some' be 'YOU'!!!!!!!!!!

The situation in Israel and the situation in ~Cyprus both call for a lot of research in history to discover truth. Personally, I can't take sides in the Israel situation, because I don't know enough to say who is victim and who is not - I think they probably both are due to leadership in the past, just as Cyprus is.

What is needed in both places is the will to give rights and dignity to everyone - and let's face it, it'#s not happening. One should never take a one sided view, because that perpetrates hatred. Difficult it may be, and unfortunatley there are 'nice' people both sides of the boundaries in both countries. But they are , in the main, not the ones who are perpetrating the crimes.

I have friends who are Germans these days, but had I been left an orphan by Germans when a child, I might have thought that all Germans are evil.. T'aint so, - as we all know that it prevails only where good is done not.

If only the good were done in Israel and Cyprus and Ireland.

Belgium, a manufactured Country, also needs to be dissolved, the North back to Hans' land (Holland) and the South back to the French. That really would put the EU on another crisis level exceeding current Euro problems. Another European war is well over due!

MarieB I agree with what you say it is not about good or bad countries as every place has good and bad people it realy does not mater where your from or what religion you are, in all it matters if you have a good heart.
