I'd like to give some lectures on medieval Cyprus history for the Medieval Cyprus Fellowship in the Famagusta/Iskele area. Last year I had some contacts with the owners of "Moon over the Water" but it didn't work out. So I'll try again, because I think there are enough foreigners (mainly Brits?) over there who may be interested in Cyprus'history, but consider the drive to Alsancak or Lapta to long.

Tips with some details about a possible venue (at least 30-40 seats) will be much appreciated.

Hans

I should be able to offer Longbeach Club and resort. It is between Famagusta and Bogaz. Email me off board.

If Moon over the Water was good before, why not try it again. The new owners are the people who ran DEKS at Yeni Erenkoy, Denise, E (forgotten) Keith and Susan? I know they used to be invovled as much as possible with community at YE

Or there is an hotel Green ??? where I have been for Quiz Nights for 'Friends of those in Need' at Salamis. Can give you details Hans, if you want to get in touch.

Or I have a friend in Famagusta who runs a lot of thin gs, and she could suggest venues if you want me to find out.

Longbeach is a fab place too - and if you get it up and running, I will persuade my friends over there to give it a try, and let me know, please Hans.

Moon over the water is a good bet. The new owners own Deks as said before and they have history on the doorstep at Deks so I am sure they would be very intrested in helping you out. They have a little cave church at Deks that you can also visit.

Re: Msgs 1&3,

I think Long beach is an excellent venue for the lectures.

'Moon over the Water'? Good lord, has J D Wetherspoons made it here at long last? Where is Tim Martin? He must have a brain cell or two, getting out of law (barrister) to create a business which affords him his daily 'pop' intake! I'm down to the Girne Court House this week with 'fliers' to hand out to black robed devils explaining that there is a legitimate life outside illegal law practices by staying pissed all the time and how to do it!

Richard,

Hardly passing off, one is a chain of irresponsible high street Pubs and the other is a very nice restaurant just outside Bogaz!

Thank you all for the valuable input!

P.S. Harold, I'm sorry to be late with an email reply but something even more important had to be done first.
