ROC Insurance office at Metahan border

Does anyone know for certain if this office closes before 8.30 p.m. weekdays.

Going to Larnaca for first time tomorrow and need to buy insurance for the South.

Do I need anything more than passport, driving licence and my TRNC insurance for my TRNC registered car?

You also need to take your car documents because you will have to get car tax at the first booth (its free) and this lasts you a year.

I think the office closes at 5.30 pm,you will need your car registration document and your english driving licence to get your road tax first which is free,then you will need the same documents plus your road tax for your insurancene.

I am almost certain that the office that issues MOT/Road Tax is only open until 1400hrs on weekdays.

The MOT office is open from 7.30am to 2.30pm Monday to Friday, confirmed this with them last week. At least one insurance booth is open from 6am until 10pm every day, including public holidays, according to the lady in the Minerva Insurance booth (1st one you come to). For MOT you need UK driving licence, car registration document and passport plus they need to be able to see your car (not that they inspect it - bit like here really!).

So I guess I need to be there before 2 p.m. to get the MOT/road tax sorted first.

Yes, and it is MOT...nothing to do with road tax.. They are not interested in whether the car is taxed in the north as that would be tantamount to recognition of the TRNC.



if you don't take the car, you can't get it... as they do a visual inspection -well the MOT inspector deigns to look out of the door at you car and as long as the wheels don't come off in front of him it passes!



I could swear they are taught in the same mechanics school north and south ;¬)



Anyway get there with all the documents before 2:30pm Mon - Fri and you will be OK.



Please note although the insurance offices are open on public holidays, the same can not be said for the MOT office.
