Have been trying to sort out a friends insurance claim. The quote included some roof repair needed after the heavy rain. Sorry they said the roof is not covered the builder has to do that. Guess what the builder said not my problem because the roof is only guaranteed for three years and the house is four years old. What a surpirise!!

Moral of the story: read the small print of insurance policies to make sure you have the cover you want.

I wouldn't do without buildings and contents insurance and premiums here in TRNC are quite reasonable.

Always ensure you have Earthquake cover - we aew overdue for a good shake I am told by an expert at the Near East Uni.

We use Umbrella Insurance, can be bought via Iktisatbank, and have had 2 claims paid as have some of our neighbours. However, they also will not cover what they deem to be bad workmanship by the builder which is fair enough, why should they?
