38 people were killed early this morning when 2 female suicide bomers, known as Black Widows blew up a busy metro station. Over 40 more are injured. No group has yet claimed responsability, authorities say.

That is terrible. Will check the BBC site. Security is very high here in Tel Aviv. Scanners and searches to get into shopping malls and market streets! Airport type security to get into railway sation yesterday and security with sniffer dogs patrolling platforms, looking under seats and checkig waste bins.

Btw, Liz, you have an inquiry about Quido's on your Facebook wall. Linda wants to know about steps as she is using a wheelchair.

RE msg 2, Sloan: (...) Security is very high here in Tel Aviv. Scanners and searches to get into shopping malls and market streets! (...)

=> Yes. And busses and hotels etc etc. And all the times I visited the country I hardly ever felt more safe in this world PLUS I fully understood what the Israelis were doing what I fundamentally didn't like. If you do not support Israel you have not been there or you have no idea what you're talking aboiut. Easy, ain't it?

True DC and with tube/bus bombs in London and problems in other cities like Madrid, can there ever be too much security, intrusive though it may be?

Hans

So you weren't on the train in 1977 in your Country when the Moluccans decided to vent and open their worries and persecution to the World? Thought not! Back to the map drawing board for you!

Hans, your English is usually so impeccable that I am surprised that I do not understand your posting .... or is it the innuendo that is too subtle for me. I am not here for political reasons, merely to see some of the history and culture of the country. Wasn't that why you visited?

RE msg 11, Sloan: I really wish you the nicest holiday in your life! I only tried to underline that all the security measures in any city in Israel unfortunately are necessary - and I think the Israelis are doing an excellent job. As a journalist I travelled all over the country several times and experienced - from the Six day war on - more safety checks than in the rest of my life. Of course I disliked it but every time had to admit the Israelis were right. Again: enjoy your holiday - it will be hard to decide where to go! Tip: the fascinating Crusaders castle of "Belvoir" ("Wonderful view"), near the river Jordan (a mere stream there!). More here, if you have the time: http://www.allcrusades.com/CASTLES/ISRAEL/BELVOIR/belvoir_txt_1.html

Again, enjoy!

RE msg 13, Brinsley: (...) Holland was the largest, per capita, Country that collaborated with the Nazi's! (...)

=> Richard, this is the fifth time in two years and three months that you have written this line. I told you before that I admit my total guilt, because I was born in 1943. It is, of course, your right to drink as much as you do - but don't write messages while you're drunk or almost pissed again.

P.S. Try, for a change, to write ONE post the readers of this board will benefit from.

=> Ah! Your favourite 'persecuted' Moluccans from 1977 again. Maybe you could contemplate about the Maori's for a change?

And today 38 people lost their lives in Moscow, today, not 1939, 1945,1977 but today March 29th 2010, try sparing a thought for those poor souls and their families.

As great as our English is, I think you might just of missed out on two words of the vocabulary, 'THANK YOU'. Shouldn't be too hard for you to learn and include for future politeness.

RE msg 18, Brinsley: (...) I think you might just of missed out on two words of the vocabulary, 'THANK YOU' (...)

=> Did you mean "... just have missed out ..."? Well, whatever, I have nothing to thank you for. Your contributions are worthless and never ever helpful to anyone. Just my opinion of course.

The thread being that when USSR dissolved it didn't do it in a full comprehensive manner which has led to grievances in certain 'states' ie Chechen.

No Richard

The thread being that 38 innocent people lost their lives today due to the actions of a couple of fanatics, whatever the rights, wrongs or reasons it still leaves all those people dead and all those families grieving, so why don't you just stop trying to score points and show a little compassion.
