Mr Beveridge.................We have seen the newspaper articles about you! Who do you represent? What deal have you struck with The Government of The TRNC? When are charter flights going to start. What is the hidden adgenda for Gectikale? Does Asil Nadir control your Company, directly or through nominees.? What is the Israeli connection? What is the strategic importance to the Americans of Gectikale Airport? What length are you increasing the runway to? Why? What for? Please be transparent. The people of The TRNC need to know! wynyardman

Hi CIH, There was an article some month ago that the TRNC Government had signed an agreement with a company called Cyprus Aviation Services to lease Gectikale Airport for 15 years at £1,000,000 pa. Jim Beverage signed on behalf of the company. Mr Asil Nadir was at the signing of the deal. The stated agreement was that the Airport runway was to be extended, a fruit packing and handling plant built. An aviation training school. Charter flights were to be introduced. As I recall 10.000 jobs were to be created. My interest was immediatly drawn because of Mr Nadirs interest and it was claimed that he was the beneficial owner of CAS which was a British registered company. Mr Nadir remains a fugitive from British justice, so I could not understand why the British Government did not sieze the Companies assets. Because of the length of the runway, I also felt there may be strategic implications. Since that time there have been various reports that Mr Nadir firstly did own CAS, then he did not. Then there was a Greek shareholder with a large percentage, then not. Dodger has today published a statement that whilst very confusing seems to cast doubts on the stated intentions. It really muddies the issue. We were then indebted to a posting from Aslan she has a completely differing take on events, as she states the deal is with an American Company, and there are already military jets stationed there,. My interest is nothing more than a seeker of truth. There are a number of postings currently live which supply much of the current speculation. It would be nice to know just exactly what is going on, but with a 15 year lease something should be happenning! wyn wyn

Hilltop, Mr recollection is that Prime Minister Soyer was a signatory to the original signing of the agreement with Cyprus Aviation Services. Asil Nadir was present at the signing ceremony. Minister Usar issued what reads as something of a denial ,although trying to interpret what was said, is something of a trial. Asil Nadir did claim beneficial ownership of Cyprus Aviation Services (internet investigations show he has worked with some strange bedfellows in the past) Aslan seemed very clear and concise in her posting. Perhaps she will want to expand on what she said. ALL I AM TRYING TO ESTABLISH IS WHAT IS TRUTH, AND WHAT IS FICTION. ARE THERE TO BE 10,000 JOBS CREATED, ARE THERE TO BE CHARTER FLIGHTS, IS GECITKALE TO HAVE STRATEGIC IMPORTANCE TO THE USA. I SEE NO PROBLEM IN WISHING TO KNOW, JUST WHAT IS GOING ON!. I AM OLD ENOUGH TO REMEMBER POLLY PECK, AND THE MILLIONS OF POUNDS OF INVESTORS MONEY THAT WAS LOST. ( See auditors fines for overstated NC asset values) Pvt Pike, You seem preoccupied with my liver, and now testes. As I posted earlier very Hannibal Lektor. As to my drinking habits, you would be most surprised(if it were anything to do with you) wynyardman

Thanks Wyn, I remember now. However I agree with other posters, only way you will get the truth is if or when it actually happens. May sound negative but I am sure you now know that things change here by the day in terms of legislation etc. D

Would a man of Nadir's dubious integrity who is already a fugitive from British justice be allowed involvement in a British company?

I remember the moment when the UK Ambassador to Cyprus came to Ledra Palace and met President Denktas, the Ambassador suggested to the President that the TRNC security services should bundle Mr Nadir into the boot of a car and transport him south for arrest. Mr Dentas reply was sweet " Mr Ambassador, in the UK would I not be arrested for Kidnapping"? Touche to the great man. If the UK Police, Fraud office and Government had any interest in the activities of Mr Nadir then they could come and see him personally or do they only spend their tax payers money on sending a couple of Kent Police officers out to find a small time bank robber?!!

I remember a late night conversation with a respected TC last year in our hotel and he was telling me that the Americans didn't really want a settlement in Cyprus as they have military interests in NC. Could it be this airport ?

Aslan, Where is the evidence of the Btitish ambassador suggesting Denktas bundle Nadir into the south? You know what Cyprus is like for unsubstantiated gossip. Gonnae no tell me the "great man" (you WERE being ironic weren't you?) said it himself so it must be true!

cyprusishome, I believe you are correct. High Commissioner for Northern Cyprus and UK Ambassador for Cyprus means the South side.

Any Commonwealth country (i.e. all of Cyprus being only one state) has High Commissioners instead of Ambassadors. But it's only the job title that's different. Anyway, Aslan, what's the truth of the matter re the "kidnap", do you know?
