I'm always confused by what people call value for money when they've eaten out.

Is it a 'blow out' meal or quality food that gives value for money?

Good, comfortable surroundings, smoke free, pleasant diners and staff, good quality fresh food, properly cooked and presented, served reasonably promptly, good service, reasonably priced drinks and wine. All for a fair price based on that.

Hector. Have to agree wth you on your summary that's what I look for when eating out, if that's not what I get I don't go back.

Neither do I. It's also strange how service, and quality can vary in a restaurant from day to day. have a great time one week, go back again and it's awful.

If we keep driving the price we pay for things down they will go from being "good value for money" to "cheap."

Once they become cheap we realise it and wish we hadn't bought them.

I agree Vaughan.

Would you rather pay a bit more for quality food or less for a 'blow out'?

Its horses for courses

A lunch in Lefkosa watching the world parade by freshly cooked food salmon and prawns and a couple of beers& coffees for two 50 ytl

The same meal silver service romantic setting in a villa garden with a bottle of wine starter or sweet 160 ytl all freshly cooked

Full kebap a bottle of wine meze lovely surroundings in a garden you waddle out 120 ytl

Or a curry a bottle of wine starters sweet 90ytl

fish and chips to take home 18ytl

The common denominator is freshly prepared good quality food with polite attentive service people willing to build a relationship with their customers that includes the chippy

Value for money in N Cyprus?

2008: 2 weeks with flights, nice hotel,....£1300.

2009: Exactly the same operator, dates, flights, hotel etc,... £1350.

2010: quote for exactly the same again,....how much?

£1950!!!!!

Not quite the way to attract tourism!

We have decided to get cheapest flight possible and stay with N01Doyen or Dutch Crusader. Please folks, don't tell them,...

we want it to be a surprise!

Msg 23

Just broke down the price quoted and think you may do better for that the length of time. Try Tom at flightholiday IAH before you book.

A swimming pool that costs 18,000 pounds and doesn't leak and that overflows evenly all round is good value for money compared to a pool that costs 15,000 pounds that leaks like a sieve, overflows unevenly and may break its own back, which is just cheap.
