Pool owners who have 300Watt sealed beam type recessed underwater pool lights can now convert them to LED.

The conversion kit costs 130 pounds.

Lights are either white or sequencing red-blue-green, controlled by a hand held remote, like a TV controller.

Advantages

1. Lights consume 5 or 6 Watts each as against 300 Watts each, big savings if you have two or more lights.

2. No more blown bulbs to replace, a real pain of a job with an underwater light.

We also supply complete surface mounted LED pool lights at a cost of 135 pounds each.

Hello Vaughan

Will these lights have a better seal than the older type that most builders installed?

The kit is the "innards" of the underwater light. The casing and seals are re-used.

Hi Vaughan,

Can these lights replace standard/builder fitted lights while the pool is full of water?

As they would be great for private & rented properties )))

The kits for the recessed lightsd can be fitted with the pool full of water, if the cable is long enough to allow the light to be raised above the surface.

The surface mounted lights require a new back plate screwing to the pool wall, meaning the pool water level would need to be dropped to below the level of the lights and new holes drilled, preferably with a battery drill if you are going to get in the water to do the job!

I have been asked to confirm that these lights use the same pump-room electrics and remote switching in the house, which they do.

Vaughan,

Presumably if the cable in-situ currently (no pun intended) is too short a further length could be attached to enable the pool light to be brought above water level using a connector of some description, say what I know as a chocolate block? or solder the cables together?

Hi Vaughan, do they still need to run off the old transformers or do they need new ones? How does the cable run from the surface mounted ones to the pump room switch? Is it worth converting or is it false economy when you can have completely new ones for a fiver more??

Ta, John.

We've had these lights for a couple of years now. We were replaced standard bulbs every 6 months or so, these have been no problem...............and it's quite cool swimming in coloured water!!

How kind of you to point that out Chris! Does 'coloured' water make things better?

Let's re-cap.

The cost for the recessed PAR56 light is per kit (1 light = 1 kit) and does not include any installation "labour".

With the recessed PAR56 lights the existing power cable is re-used.

I don't know how many LEDs there are in each lamp as the face is "frosted".

With the surface mounted lights the new power cable has to be drawn through.

The lamps come in two "colours" and are either "White" or a "coloured" which sequences through the colours at a speed of your selection. You can also "freeze" the light at a certain colour to stop the sequencing.

Kits (for recessed lights) cost 130 pounds.

New complete lights (for surface mounted lights) cost 135 pounds.

Your existing transformers will be re-used as will existing wiring/switching.

If the above info isn't enough (!!) please ring me on 0533 845 8494.

Hi David,

These lights have 150 LEDs in them and it is the one light which changes colour, if you are still interested.

Can you have the 'coloured' one that changes but with one of the colours being white? or is it fixed with red / blue / green?

Cheers,

You can have a white light that is On or Off, just like a normal u/water pool light, or a coloured one that sequences through Red-Green-Blue at a speed which you choose or it can be "frozen" on one of the colours.

Our pool lights were screwed in with small pieces of wood and then normal wood screws ... great idea being in water..... the normal happened rotted and let in water. Where the electircs are was also full of water.

We have brought the LCD lights which change colour froma shop in Catalkoy and they change into about 5 different colours the seal are brilliant and they cost about 80.00gbp each.

They look lovely in the evening. I will confirm which shop we got them from and also home much but would highly recomened them.
