Yes and the tree rats got in, we thought it was composting very quickly. So, we haven't tried it again. A pity as we always had a composting area in the UK.

The things to be wary of with compost heaps is the flies and snakes... rotting vegetation will attract flies.. so have it as far away from the house as possible....



Snakes love the heat generated by the rotting process, so when you go to turn it etc. Be prepared.

I brought two of those big, square, sectional plastic compost bins bought from Aldi in UK - got some funny looks checking them in at Manchester & again getting them off the belt at Ercan but worth the struggle - making great compost now! They have bases & lids so no snakes so far!
