3 x Mitsubishi to date. 1st, engine warning light, no power over 3,000 revs, £1,700 in garage bills for no fix so dumped it. 2nd, after 3 weeks engine warning light, burn out of computer engine management, smoke filled cabin, dumped it, (as a Bitsofmitchie!), with £4,500 loss. 3rd and current, after 2 months engine warning light, performance OK, but fuel consumption increased by approx a third. Have tried obvious, air filter etc etc but scared off garages which I have used for regular servicing albeit low annual mileage. Would be grateful if there is anyone with helpful advice. All 3 vehicles indicated mileages below 40,000 klms. No jokes please as I am skint, bruised, and traumatised by a recurring dream that I got pissed and bought a Ford Fokker !

Had a Fokker and got rid of it - got a Mitsubishi Pajero SWB 18 years old and goes like a steam train. Is yours a Pajero as well? There is a site http://www.pocuk.com that can help.

Don't waste a second and go immediately to Tiga Trading! I'm moving over next month, but just returned from a visit to handle business. I bought my car from them and, aside from my husband's touch, it was the most pleasurable experience. The entire staff is extremely professional, friendly and competent. Search Tiga on this forum and you will see many posts.

One more thing, I don't know quite how severe the flooding was last month, but I would be extremely careful buying a car direct from an owner. If it was flooded, you'll have a nightmare on your hands! Good luck.

Many thanks for quick responses. The first two were Pajero and the current one 4WD Airtrek (live up a track). Hope your Pajero continues faithfully Waddo. Molly, the vehicle originates from Tasas where Bob, Hugh, and the late Bob (bless him) plied their trade before opening Tiga. Agree your sentiments re Tiga and highly recommend them for purchases and servicing. Stayed with badge as numerous other owners here have no problems with this popular model. Main dealer here told me he had electronic equipment for diagnostics of engine management computer and his head mechanic said he had not and wanted car for twelve days! Thought of taking it South but could be treated like a "carpet Bagger" not an old fart with a love of Cyprus and it's people who, like many, had over a long period, approx 70% of his pension fund trousered by Brown and Blair. prior to retirement. I guess I hope that there is somewhere a kind, skilled, vehicle technician, who has the necessary complex equip

Hi Brian,

Tony and Hugh here, we are very concerned to hear about your problems. Where did you buy the first two Pajeros, were they from Tasas? You have said the Airtrek was purchased from Tasas, how long ago was that?

We haven't been with Tasas for two years now as we were building Tiga, and we have been open here for nine months, could you get in touch with either of us and we can see if we can help.

I'm not knocking Tiga - I've heard nothing but good reports about them

However, if you want to go to the main dealers in the South, don't be shy - they are quite professional, and you will get a warm welcome - I can assure you that I have never experienced any discrimination or bad attitude , either when ordering spares, or arranging servicing.

The Service dept has moved, and it's not far across the border now - down a street on the opposite side of the road to the main FAIRWAYS showroom - quite near the Coca-Cola factory. It has a different name (which I can't remember) so ask when you ring...

I believe the service dept number remains +357 22482151, the showroom is +357 22592345

If you have to leave your car, then the small Mall with a little Debenhams, Carrefour, and Homebase is within walking distance - helps to kill the time...

I agree with Keith, if you are having engine management problems you need to go to a main dealer. The only place for these is in the south, I have a Nissan Navara and take to the dealer near Ikea. They are always very polite, professional and do an excellent job.

Dear Coffer,

Many thanks for your response reaffirming what keith recommended. Good to know that a friendly reception is likely as they shot at me in the 60s but missed. My Wilderbeest (bless her) thinks I was hit in the head !

"if you are having engine management problems you need to go to a main dealer"

Best advice,

Here,s a e.g. have a Merc 160 took it to a normal Garage had a oil change after ca 3 months during a long distance drive a warning tone & sign came on "Hi" meaning Engine heating over. Took the car to the local Merc Dealers they checked it out, found the problem was the Garage who did the oil change used a cheap low grade oil + 1 half of a litre to much oil in the engine which caused the engine to heat-over & could have damaged the engine...

So in future for me its the dealer I advice to use not a cheap offer from a Normal Garage or a guy around the corner.

Chris

deputydawg,

Its not a big club but at least I know there is another member - shot at me outside Rosies Bar in the middle of Nicosia - February 14th 1965, missed but not by much! Took it on the ankle very quickly, maybe it was the Blue Scarf that they did not like?

On another subject, always on the look out for Pajero spares! Where did you dump yours??????

Dear Waddo, regret no spares. In amplification "dumped" a trader with first Pajero and used £8,000 put aside for medical emergencies to part exchange for 2nd Pajero five door jobbie. When this failed spent £1,000 on botch up repair and limped it to the nearest dealer where I got £3,500 less than what paid 3 weeks earlier. Off thread, but was Rosie the lady (?) who would spin car keys on her nipple if bought a drink?. (of course my Wildebeest, bless her, realises that is a rumour I heard, in exactly the same way that she fully understands that I only visited Eros Square in Limasol when I innocently took a wrong turning !!) The fact that when Wilde took my shoes off later I was only wearing one sock has nothing to do with it even if she still asks where the missing sock is over 40 years later. I imagine that if it was found by someone with one leg who could utilize it Wilde wants to check to see if it needs darning !! Sorry for misuse earlier of word "dumped" Take care

Deputydawg,

Only if you bought her Anglais I am afraid! But that indeed was the place that the Danish UN guys took me took so that I could "Grow Up" under their control!!!!! I don't know anyone who can speak Danish but they sure had a way of doing things right!

Eros (Heroes) Square always used to surprise me when I went back again in the late sixties - it was the place where the married families (service) used to be put up in the Hotel whilst they found themselves a house to rent, a really good way to try out the marriage vow's I suppose before the tour started! It was also the place where you could buy "Beak and Claw" soup at anytime of the day or night - best after 03:00 and worst in the afternoon when you had to wake up the drunken cook! Ah, what memories!

Sorry about the Paj's - mine has had a few problems but as it is old and built out of old T64 tank parts I am still happy with it and a large hammer seems to cure most things.
