| For the third year in a row Apple has been named the World’s Most Admired Company by Fortune Magazine — this year by the widest margin ever. What makes Apple so admired? Fortune explains: “Product, product, product. This is the company that has changed the way we do everything from consumer music to design products to engage with the world around us.” Apple also ranked #1 in Innovation among all companies. | RE msg 3, Groucho: It's not a PC, it's a computer. If you don't have an Apple Macintosh - don't join the group that has. We're not interested in opinions from poor PC (Windoze) users. |

Dutch, your response just about sums up the average Apple purchaser... to me they are all a bit like Volvo owners, thought they'd bought the outside lane of the motorway with the car... ;¬)

Groucho, in the past 30 years or so Apple has changed the world - not this follower of fashion and imitator Gates. Really, there's a difference between quality and cheap quantity. Everything you can do on a PC you can do better and more on an Mac. Try it, one day.

Ha, I spent over twenty years programming computers and started on Apple Macs in 1984 so I don't think I need to try it one day... Dr Henry Edward Roberts was the inventor of the Altair 8800, a machine that sparked the home computer era. The "father of the personal computer" who kick-started the careers of Microsoft founders Bill Gates and Paul Allen has died at the age of 68. He died in hospital on 1 April after a long bout of pneumonia.

RE msg 7, Groucho: After six years on several TRNC Bulletin Boards I know that you know always better than everyone else. So: the world is crazy for calling Apple "the World’s Most Admired Company" for the third year in a row - because you say so. So be it. P.S. You'll possibly reply to this post. But I won't.

Oh is that how you win arguments? Toys out of the pram... I like the idea that the 'World' called Apple 'the World’s Most Admired Company'... The accolade is as meaningless as your riposte... What sort of research do you imagine goes into this sort of drivel? Having said that I do admire their unerring ability to pull the wool over peoples' eyes and convince them to spend inordinate amounts of money.... Computing snobbery does not interest me.. does it you? P.S. If you don't think the world is crazy you are on a different planet... P.P.S. I bet you wish you hadn't declared yourself out of this pointless thread now... go on you know you want to!

Fortunately as human beings, we are endowed with freedom of choice. It is up to us as individuals to make our own choices. I chose an apple iphone and think it's the greatest mobile phone ever made. My friend swears by his Blackberry. It's all about personal choice.
