Im sorry to say that our neighbours beloved dog Blackie has just been poisoned down at Sardunya Bay in Lapta. For those of you that know the beach will no of the 2 dogs that live down there. The poison had been placed in their food bowls and unfortunatly Blackie ate it. Rosie, one of the dogs there, was also poisoned but she made it to the vets in time but unsure how she is now. So please if you are walking your dogs down there please please be careful.

That is terrible, I am so sorry to hear about your neighbours dog...I just cant believe the cruelty. Where is Sardunya Bay in Lapta? My husband walks our dogs often down by the sea in Lapta not far from the HosBes area.

My friends dog also picked up poison in the mountains above Savoyon village this week. He picked up a small animal that had been poisoned but luckily my friends got him to the vets in time. Firdez, having had her little boy, has left a super calm and efficient young lady vet standing in for her. She did a great job in dealing successfully with the situation.

Thanks Jen, thats the beach my husband goes to. When will this stop? Someone put poison outside our gate and I thought that was bad enough, but inside their food bowls, how do the poor animals here stand a chance?

It was without doubt a deliberate cowardly despicable attack on the beach dogs,poor Blackie is dead because some sick maniac got up on a beautiful morning and thought " hmmm today i'll buy deadly poison and kill someones beloved pet,that should be a fun way to spend a Friday" -- - - - - - - - I am so angry and sad,Blackies owner has lose believet his best buddie,our little world has lost a real character,how does anyone have the believe they have the right to do this ?????

This is so sad. My husband walks our dog there every day and we were chatting with Blackie and his owner just a couple of days ago.

Pleased that Rose is ok but part of the problem may be that Rose and Zeytin are free to roam around and there are goats very close by. My husband has spoken to the shepherd and he is not happy about the dogs but he said he would shoot them if there was a problem so would hope that he didn't lat the poison. I also wonder if this has anything to do with the signs that have appeared from the District Office saying the bar is closed.

I would suggest that you do not walk dogs without muzzles in the mountains at the moment, I do a lot walking up there but my dogs wear the baskerville muzzles. I am sorry to say there are some very strange animal bits left around, goats legs, unidentified animal's lungs etc etc not sure if poisoned but I am not taking any chances. I generally walk in the mountains between Bellapais and Arapkoy.

Now the hunting season is over I suppose the farmers/goatherders are out with the poison to kill off the strays abandoned by the hunters. So best be very careful.

I was down there a few days ago and my dog was playing with the beach dogs and eating and drinking from their bowls. My husband and son are down there as I write - thank god they did not take the dog as he has a bad leg. We did not see any other animals there but there are sheds/stables or some sort of cover, so maybe that is the goat houses.

msg 10;

You forgot to mention the ones being abondoned by returning back to UK Britts.In fact,there is a perfectly healty looking golden Labrador where I live at the moment that commands to english!!!

ps.How about trying to target the problem as GENERAL,rather then blaming it on particular people???

How do we know that the person that put the poisen there did not confront the owners of those dogs in the first place?

How would you or me or anyone else for that matter like to have 3 lose dogs roaming around your herd all the time disturbing or damaging your livelyhood/bread and butter?

Sad thing is that,unintended ones can get harmed/killed as well as it happened there.

Yes it looks very new Lilli and the dog itself looks very health as well.Perhaps because it had not been homeless for long,YET!

With the princeble of "you have to be cruel to be kind",I chase it off whenever here.If I or my wife ( ) start emotinal,feeling sorry s**t again,I'd have another dog at home.NO THANK YOU.Also,if I have a dog that I no longer want,I'd deal with it,not any tom,dick and Harry out there.TA

Lilli;

I live on the outskirts of Lapta.

However,I have just been speaking to a neighbour on the same site (little britain) and they have taken him home already but he does wander off.

She knows you (VIDAL),do please speak to her if you dont mind just to make sure there is no confusion.

My point was made regarding timing, Brits might abandon dogs all through the year but the increased poisoning seems to correspond with end of hunting/lambing time. You suggest that a previous confrontation excuses poisoning, or did I misunderstand you?
