I hope everyone on site over the Easter break enjoys it as much as we did when we were there at New Year. Its a great space and with the warmer weather the doors can be opened onto the poolside.

Well done Mike you have done a great job with the BAY INN.

We would like all outsiders to kindly note that this is supposed to be a CLOSED SITE.

The majority of owners do NOT wish to have the public on site so you will NOT be welcome and any outsiders may very well be politely asked to leave.

I am not surprised, but I am appalled at the comments by Rhodesian. First, I fail to see how he claims to represent the views of most owners. It is only fair that only owners use the pool, gym etc (as they pay for them, or at least most do) but I am sure that most owners have no objection to others using the bar. If the bar is only used by residents it will not be economically viable, but perhaps this is Rhodesian's intention.

Kibris

Keith Hunt (Rhodesian) is not an official spokesperson for the owners on SWB. I do not know how he defines "majority" as he has not canvassed all owners opinions.

We have not spoken to one person who is against non-owners using the bar. Obviously we are all aware that if at some stage having outsiders onsite causes problems, access may need to be reviewed.

Please feel free to drop in for a drink whenever you are in the area.

Phil

P.S. I am just a friendly owner who wants to see the site doing well.

After discussing this issue with many owners, it is clear the Majority have no objection to non owners using the bar.

Rhodesian does not represent the majority in any way, shape or form, prehaps Rhodesian would like to confirm how he feels he can make such a statement and confirm this to all owners.

Until a final decission is reached by a formally set up Owners Assoc, and the majority have clearly stated they have no objection, non residents are all welcome.

Rhodesians comments aside, the site is a very friendly place, so do come along for a friendly drink and make some new friends, who will not be asking anybody to leave.

Do I take it that Rhodesian will be employing zanu-pf thugs to enforce his residents only policy? Perhaps they were the invigilators that assisted in his "majority" mandate !!

im told every site in turkish cyprus has one ( a M and K hunt) people who want to ruin everyone elses enjoyment. why did you buy into what is a holliday complex when you could have moved into a quiet villa in a cul-de-sac somewhere in the hills ?

im not being funny but you are a disgrace , if i were mike i would be seeking legal advice right now as posting what you have is nothing short of trying to ruin a buisiness before its got started .

if you and her are not in the picture , we have given mike thro a majority vote permission to open his bar to none owners . will you you please both leave sweetwaterbay and take your zimmer frames with you !

Ain't it a shame we can't all be friends! The Moslem tradition is one of welcoming guests and newcomers with food and good wishes. I have found this country a wonderful place to set up home, free and easy and without the stresses and strains of former life in the UK. Fear and paranoia should be totally unnecessary.

Mark, you're absolutely right. The fact is that we have a small minority who claim to represent the majority, yet without any valid mandate to do so. If you go through the SWB threads you'll know who they are, and may get some idea of their intentions

Frontalman, I totally agree, Looks like Keith Hunt doesn't realise he is living in a Muslem country, and is trying to dictate his wishes onto all of the other owners, and trying to create an unpleasantness where none existed. I think he and his wife are obviously very unhappy on SWB, he has stated on Cyprus 44 of his intention to leave and sell up, so maybe that would be a better option for him, to find somewhere more suitable for him and his wife. They had chosen to be residents on a mainly holiday site, and had wanted to run the management company themselves, but we already have a management company in place, and the majority, I think, are happy to give them a chance to prove their worth. Keith does not agree.

We have a great Bar, The Bay Inn, on site, it is open to ALL, despite what Keith has written above.., he doesn't not have the backing of the majority to ask any non-resident to leave, so please ignore him, come along and meet many lovely residents and enjoy a drink or two.

We thought as did Frontalman that we were coming to a country where the things were free and easy and we could look to our neighbours as we would do for them and leave behind the stress and petty mindedness etc

We have some great people buying on SWB its just a shame that the few spoil it for the rest by thinking they have more rights just because they are resident full time.

We have been buying for 2 years and its always been known that our Bar would be open to the public.

We were sold a gated community and that is the way it is.

So far as allowing the public entry, everyone WAS consulted.

Last December, the Association learned that Mike had stated that the site was no longer to be a gated community for the benefit of the bar (which he runs for private profit) and that the ‘majority of owners were in favour’ of this.

On December 13, Shaun emailed every owner (about 118) and asked them whether they HAD been consulted on this and whether they were indeed in favour of the public being allowed on the site. Only about 45 people bothered to reply and the majority were against allowing the public on site.

So it remains a gated community until 60+ owners decide it isn't.

As forAndy-f, we are all used to his drink-sodden abuse on Cyprus44 and will pay them all the attention they deserve.

Keith, Please would you post the names of the people that do not want the bar open to the public. Then we will all know where we stand, it will be interesting to hear the reasons.

Shaun does not run the site and many simply will not reply to his unsolicited emails.

Finally Keith decides to respond- for anyone who is interested, they may want to look at the SWB 11 thread [msgs 189-192]. He claims that my questions have been answered, but when challenged, mysteriously goes quiet, simply because the questions haven't been answered.

On msg 8 of this thread, who are the "we" ? Is Keith the official spokesman for SWBOA? Where & when was the result of the "vote" communicated ? Is Keith going to stand at the gate with his clipboard & notepad ? Can we now be told who on the SWBOA committee haven't paid their management fees, and if not why? I'm not prepared to be "represented" by people who won't play by the rules or arbitrarily decide what they may or may not want to pay.

As for the "gated community", I thought Moira insisted on the gates being left open for access by emergency vehicles... or am I wrong?

I don't of course expect a reply, certainly not one that will answer the very pertinent questions.. and no, I don't want to run the association!!

please go to the sweetwaterbay face group set up by sheila , owners are posting there views on non residents using the bar ( the bay inn) at the moment all are in favour and not one against.

Q. is there a site in turkish cyprus that has a bar facillity that excludes anyone who is not a owner or someone staying at such a site ?

Q . can you really see the said mr hunt trying to throw a thirty / forty year old off the the site ? I cant stop laughing thinking about it. .

I think this is all very sad, why one would need a 'gated' community on this lovely island beats me. There are some wonderful-looking developments along the coast that way now. When we moved here there were none. save a couple of small developments around Esentepe village itself.

It seems the water isn't that sweet after all!

Since we have had non paying owners inviting their friends over to use the facilities in the past, I can't see how they can object to you using the bar if invited by a [paying] owner. I will be over in NC 12th-25th May, and would be delighted if you will accept an invitation to come there for a beer- my UK mobile is 07973 145978. Hopefully this will show that we are not all anti social. I can't of course guarantee that Mr Hunt won't be at the gates of the development with a rottweiler!!

Hi Mark,

I will be over in 3 weeks please come and visit The Bay Inn it's a great meeting place. It will be good to meet people that love the place and have lived in NC for a while and to learn from them.

Re msg 8, still don't know if KH when saying "we" represents SWBOA, since as per usual, he decides not to reply to my questions. Is he representing the views of himself & his wife, or SWBOA. Perhaps he might afford us the courtesy of a reply, but I won't hold my breath.

If, as in all other points when I have asked him for answers he goes strangely silent, I trust all will be able to make up their own minds.

personally as an outsider............ if you have a facility like this on site it can only survive if you allow outsiders in, btw it looks stunning inside it wasn't open when we visited but defiinately would have had a pint in there had it been !! in fairness it clearly states in the first thread above that you are not allowed to use any other of the facilities very clearly

I personally wouldn't want a bar or restaurant on my site so I chose one that hasn't got one ! but if you have then expect it to be used
