Could you not just plant a pip and watch it grow? We did that with a lemon pip and it is growing nicely. It is a slow process though, as it is 2 years on now and still only about 9 inches high!! Will have to wait a whole lot longer for the slice in my G & T on the terrace!!

hi briggus, sorry cant help with any information on where to purchase a blood orange tree in N/C,but would advise buying a tree if possible.as fruit trees take about 5/7 years, too start to crop properly.dont know if it would need a pollinator, either.i know in the uk you can get fruit trees that have been grafted with several, different varieties on one tree to cross pollinate each other. but you may not need that in N/C.

hh do not intend to plant until nearer winter - and I do not need reminding of the water shortage - using grey water when I can/in N Cyprus. I use the sea to swim in and do not have a swimming pool or use one do you?

you cannnot grow a good fruit tree from a pip. most are grafted so you get a better tree and fruit. on the main road going towards the lefkosa roundabout in gonyeli there is a garden center, they have all sorts of fruit trees, named brands see if they have some.

fire starter is right. All citrus is grown from pips of bitter orange and then the right type is grafted. Bitter orange has much stronger roots. You can buy these from any nursery and then just graft the type you wish. Blood oranges are not commercially grown but you can find some trees for getting a graft from Lefka area. You will just have to go to Lefka, walk into any coffee show, play a game of tavla (back gammon) and everybody will die to help you!!! ismet
