Thanks, Lilli, and I echo all your wishes to everyone. It is our wedding anniversary, and what better than on Easter Sunday to think of ongoing love, hope and peace, not just in our relationship but also in Cyprus and the world.

Hope you manage to have a good day too.

I wish I had my old Mum with me to give me an egg with a painted face, but she is long gone, but the memories of all our loved ones and the life they gave us fits inwith the Easter message of life, doesn't it.

So, to all of Cyprus 44 readers, whatever you may or may not understand about Easter, I hope you can all catcha touch of the hope that it brings - we need it with the forthcoming elections!!!!

I echo Liz's wishes to all. Although it is wet today in Scotland have already enjoyed painting eggs with my four year old grandson and making chocolate nest cakes. Hoping the rain goes off long enough to roll the painted eggs. Happy Easter everyone.

RE msg 2, MarieB: (...) whatever you may or may not understand about Easter, (...)

=> "understand" (or: believe without any proof - if you don't mind?)!

Oh dear DC, don't be pedantic. It is all a question of language, innit! You don't have to believe in Easter but can understand it! And you don't have to understand it to believe it! But by saying 'understand', I said it deliberately, because for some Easter is a time to rejoice in new life - in the old pagan understanding. Easter was adopted to hide behind a pagan festival so the Christians were not persecuted or bumped off! For some it is a time for families and love and for hoping for better things - again without believing in the Christian idea of the risen Christ - THAT needs belief.

Interesting how languages mean different things to different people. Sorry if I am using my English interpretation/;translation. Easter is not necessarily a time for 'credo'!!!! Tamam?

Oh and by the way, although not many people may know this (or want to), the word 'Easter' probably is of Celtic origin and comes from the word Eastre - who was the goddess of Spring. See what I mean!!!!
