President Mehmet Ali Talat has said that important progress has been achieved at the Cyprus negotiations thanks to policies formulated in cooperation with Turkey, asking the support of the people to move the process forward. President Talat’s comments came during a rally organized in the Degirmenlik village last night.

In an address at the event, President Talat said that the image of the Turks of Cyprus in the world has changed thanks to pro-solutionist policies pursued in the last 5-6 years.

He said that the European Court of Human Right’s ruling concerning the TRNC Immovable Property Commission and the decision to bring the Direct Trade Regulation back to the agenda of the European Parliament were the result of these policies.

As part of his election campaign, President Talat also visited the villages of Akıncılar, Dilekkaya and Gazikoy.

Speaking during the visits, the President said that the TRNC people will decide whether to return to the past or to continue its way towards uniting with the rest of the world during April’s Presidential election.

He warned that the Cyprus Turkish Side can lose the gains it achieved if the Cyprus talks end with a reason for which the Cyprus Turkish Side will be held responsible for.

Measy

Sorry old bean but it is all about what the TC's want not what you want and I am just reflecting my interpretation of what my neighbours want. Maybe when you get to live out here full time then you will get to understand what life is all about out here. I hasten to add that I am no expert but I am lucky in so much that I have TC neighbours and I converse with them on a daily basis so I am well aware of what is going on in the TRNC. Are you?
