Yes, sad posting I know, but I am old enough to remember when our family in the Uk looked forward to the Cyprus potatoes being available for our shops, and it was sooooo nice to taste them again in Cyprus.

Not hehe at all Izzet, the whole of the Uk fast food outlets looked forward to the Cyprus potatoes arriving in the (I hate to say this as it shows how old I am) in the 70s, because they were such good quality. Even the 'Pembrokes' we grow here are not a patch on them for frying. And yes, I am being serious.

We also love the Cyprus potatoes that you can no longer buy here. My Mum actually brought home 4 for her brother. This may have been illegal - but she's over 70 so thinks she is above the law!!!

Hi chip shop Tony, I also was a chiperer - but retired now. No more nightmares about where to find the next batch of good Maris Pipers, will pass on the tip re Cornish New to the guy I sold out to. Susie:: if she is over 70, she is DEFINATELY above the law. My mum (now deceased) thought that "I'm 80 you know!" was her passport to everything from getting a discount to jumping a queue.... usually it worked... she even had one taxi-driver trained to pick her up, drop her and the shopping off, open the door to the house, and put shopping in the kitchen, and he didn't get to leave until he'd put the fridge items in the fridge, and the frozen stuff in the freezer... And she used to get away with it just by telling him "You're a lovely lad, you are".

We remember having Cyprus potatoes when we were young, they were always red and sooooooo nice. So, now we have discovered them again in TRNC, we also bring home bags full of them!!! Don't think that there is any problem in that, the only things excluded seem to be meat, fish, cheese, and for some bizarre reason I have not yet managed to work out - honey! Supergran

Hi All, Not sure if you are looking in TRNC or UK for Cyprus Potatoes but I saw them in Tesco last night so they are in season and available to buy in UK. Hope this helps in your quest.
