I am thinking of having a 'Chicken/Scampi in the Basket' evening. Together with, of course, 70's quiz, and 70's music and 70's 'dress up'... Just gauging the interest on here. How many of you could I expect to participate? This really is a chicken or egg situation.

And to drink...

Blue Nun

Mateus Rose

Babycham

Advocaat

Leibfraumilch

Can we still buy these?

Black Tower not good enough now? I suppose you preferred 'Black Tower?

I thought the height of sophistication was ordering a brandy and Babycham - happy days.

Good luck with this - I think it will be a good laugh, only sorry I can't be there.

Sorry Ailletoo - our messages overlapped and many thanks for the compliment (it was a compliment, wasn't it?)

Indiana Wants Me - R Dean Taylor - only white artiste on Motown (I think)

Montego Bay - Bobby Bloom

Best of luck in your hunt for "Vintage" wines - Seek and you shall find (unfortunately, in this case).

Now Jeannie, there was nothing wrong with liking the good things in life, i.e Black Tower, but my favourite tipple was Cherry B.

Whistler - message 38.

My mum's favourite drink, until we went to a family party (those were the days) when my Uncle Keith mixed her snowballs with vodka. All night she kept saying "oohh - these are lovely". She got as pi..ed as a pudding and could never understand why.

Whilst we're on the subject of 'fragrances' (I use the term in the very loosest sense), I was very partial to "Charlie" (by Revlon, you know) and Estee Lauder's Youth Dew - good God, you'd open your wardrobe door and keel over - and, it burnt all the skin on the sides of my neck, having worn it to a summer wedding when the weather was very hot. I still have the redness on my neck to prove it. I'm surprised all my clothes didn't rot

Please put me down for one order of soup in a basket and mine's a Canadian Club and 'American' (Carol - I told you I was classy)

The fellas that we hung out with couldn't afford Aramis, it was Old Spice or Brut, but on a date they always paid for an upstairs ticket for the flix just to be flash. Oh happy days.

Liz - Barley Wine. I remember my old Mum telling me that if ever a bloke offered me a barley wine to drink, I was to get me coat and get out of there. I got rotten more times on barley wine than I care to remember!

Aramis - good Lord, that brings back some memories. I used to work for a Greek shipping company in the late 60's/early 70's and they all used Aramis. Walking along the corridors was tantamount to taking your life in your hands

Mind you, at the time, I thought it was wonderful. Yeuk!!!

Liz - Eau Savage - still the best aftershave ever, I think.

Paco Rabanne - The equivalent of Youth Dew for men

Paul - someone told me you're still wearing them!

Bill - see, I keep telling people I'm sophisticated - I think the fact that I was a 'Babycham Girl' has proven this for good and all
