Help, does anyone have my problem re telephone?

Help! Does anyone in the Lapta/Alsancak area have the same problem as I do today - no telephone. I have two lines and neither seems to be working. Thank goodness I have a dongle as standby, or I wouldn't have internet.

Or is this just me? If it is a local problem, then I won't bother the telephone company, otherwise I have to go all the wya to town to report it! Yuk!

we have trouble almost every day with our phone,we are in Lapta, for no apparent reason it just goes crackly and it;s impossible to make or receive calls, we have ADSL internet connection which is also affected sometimes.

Thanks Hattikins. I would almost welcome the crackling (non pork variety) which I have had regularly, but today not so much as a mini crackle, cos both phone lines arecompletely dead. It means that I can't use my router which is on one line, and the telephone merely says 'Check phone line'.

So, I am as dead as a Dodo. But is anyone else, or has too much crackling beaten mine to death.

Don't know where you live MarieB but there is a telegraph pole down with the telephone wires about 1/4 along the road from JK,s.

My telephone and adsl in Malatya is also down and has been for a few days. I have paid my bill, so it isn't that. You can ring 161 and report it in English.

Thanks folk. I woke up this morning and all communication is restored! I hope that means TRNC V has his back too. AND YES, WE HAD PAID OUR BILL.



Must have been a pole down or some such. I am just grateful that it is back, and reassured that it was not somehting internal, viz the cat having chewed through the wire or some such.

Had no problems with mine in lapta. It seems the underground lines have more problems than the overhead lines if you have this. My friend had a problem with the crackling and it turned out to be his portable phone and not the line. Must say if you report it they do turn up very quickly now.

Hi, I am in Lapta, mountainside and I have been having trouble for a while. The strange thing is that I have no line in the mornings, but by mid afternoon it is working again. This happens everyday! Maybe the staff are only working in the mornings on the phone lines?????!!!!!!

Very strange SS1! Mine is definitely overhead - in fact the wretched box is outside and so is a pole! But at the moment all is well. quite a mystery!
