Hey there, any suggestions.....

We have to spend a few days 'South Side' on our next trip out and wondered the best way to get around.

Last year we took a TRNC Hire Car after the hire company gave us permission, however was not 100% convinced on the Insurance or Legality of doing this..... just uncomfortable doing it again.

Do you know a Southern Car Hire Company who will meet us at the Plya crossing point or suggest another way of getting a hire car so that we can get around for a couple of days.

Has anyone done this via Nicosia and the Ledra Palace Crossing and got a Car there perhaps ????

Any ideas or suggestions ???

Thanks ever so much

You might try leaving your car near the Ledra Palace crossing and walk through then get a taxi to the car hire company (having pre ordered online). Just a suggestion as taxis are fairly easy to get at the LP crossing point.

It is difficult to give best advice with such scant information. If you are arriving in the south then Stewart's suggestion is the best as you save on transfer costs, but you will have to purchase insurance for the north. I understand this is a minimum of 1 month which may be too long.

If arriving in the north arrange via the internet for your car hire to meet you in the old city. Make your way to Nicosia (via taxi or dolmus) to Ledra Palace or via Kyrenia Gate to the Lokmaci crossing and walk through.

Here is a car hire company, but a Google search will give you many more:

Hi Sarahlou

See the banner at the top. When I land at Larnaca if I need to spend time in the South I get a hire car from Fontana, then depending on the time I'm going to be in the North I either keep the Fontana car, or leave it back at the airport and get collected by Sun Rentacar in Lefkosa - £25 each way, rental MUCH cheaper than Fontana + no insurance to buy at the crossing.

Hope this helps!

Cheers
