Is that what it is - I see a guy sitting outside my bank in Lefkoşa every week selling strips of something that look like lottery tickets like ones I've seen sold in Spain.

Is there a lottery in here? I know it's Haram but so are a lot of other things in here ...!!!

If we have, how do you play? And are we allowed to play/collect if we're not citizens?

Thanks - every little helps!

I've been told that ex-pats are not entitled to claim the prize... I'm not sure if this is true but if it is then it's a bit of an obstacle

yes it is the lottery. you can buy from the street sellers. there is also a selling point in the wooden cabin outside the top car park in girne.

there is also a lottery office in the coffee shop opposite the market in girne.

From street sellers 8 lucky dips for saturdays is 5tl. from the lottery shop it is 4tl and you can pck your own numbers

Hi Cidem It is not the same all over the world. If you enter the UK lottery now, you have to be a resident of the UK to claim a prize.

Well cypriots can claim the tc national lottery so you can get a friend to help you out. They will be getting a nice holiday in Abkara because thats where you go to claim the prize. There is also a Turkish Cypriot lottery but the prize is much lower so we never bother to play it although my father says that because there are fewer perople here the chance of winning is higher

Interesting! But I don't think I'll start planning on what to spend my winnings on just yet.

Speaking of which - how do you find out what the winning numbers are?
