Using an English qwerty keyboard when posting, how do I access letters using Cedilla, Circumflex, Breve, Diaeresis when wanting to spell a Turkish word? I know this can be done using Windows Office but cannot find a way when opening C44. Anyone know?

Thanks in anticipation

Richard - there is an ASCII Keyboard codes system that you can search for - in the mean while why not create in word and copy to cyprus44?

There should be a dark square with the letters EN in your taskbar. Left-click it and see you options. If Turkish (TR) is not there, right-click the square, choose Options and add Turkish.

This is what a Turkish keyboard looks like - http://frontype.com/keyboarding/540px-Computer-keyboard-Turkey.svg.png

Good luck!

Probably says Settings, not Options.

Brinsley, here are most of the Turkish letters (I used the Mac font: Avantgarde Türk). But beware: not all fonts on Macs and PC's have Turkish letters for print and screen also and then you just cannot 'make' them. On the net there are many fonts with Turkish letters available (some of 'em are free to download). I have thousands of different fonts on a hard drive, but using the right fonts in text and even more so in graphics is still a rather complicated business.

This is what you should see, but I'm not sure about the result: http://www.allcrusades.com/BB_pics/Mac_font_Avantgarde_Turk.jpg

Ingrid

Thanks, but no EN though I've managed to translate all postings into Turkish! But I just want the odd word! I'm using Vista, any ideas?

Ok, I don't use Vista, but this may work:

Right-click the Taskbar

Go to Toolbar

Mark Language field

Understandable Dutch!

Here's to show you how complicated tyhe use of fonts is...

This is Avantgarde Turk (ASCII): http://www.allcrusades.com/BB_pics/PopChar_Turkish_1.jpg

And this the same font, Avantgarde Turk (however: Unicode): http://www.allcrusades.com/BB_pics/PopChar_Turkish_2.jpg

Let me know if you are still missing Turkish letters - I'll send you a follow-up email from where you can copy them if you need them. Maybe less dangerous than messing around with PC fonts and PC keyboard lay-outs...

I have to hand it to you Hans, when it comes to computers I'm still in kindergarten whilst you remain the professor! Fancy a beer drinking competition?!

Richard - this may be helpful. I set up Vista using this and set the language bar to 'floating'

Sorry, too old, drunk, lazy and demotivated to learn yet another language but thanks for the thought.

Katy - you're quite right of course, but doesn't that only work in Word? What about HTML docs like this one? Is it available on the menu to reply to this message?

If you're not yet sorted, try this:

Am not sure what Vista looks like but aim to get to Settings, Control Panel, Regional and Language Settings from your desktop.

Click Keyboards and Languages. Click Change Keyboards. Click Add. In the list find and Double Click Turkey, double click Keyboard, click to tick box beside Turkish Q and click OK. Click Ok again and close all windows.

Now you should have Turkish keyboard available to you.

To toggle between keyboards, hold down Alt and press the Shift/Caps key.

Don't know about Vista but in Windows you'll see EN on the taskbar change to TR.

Spot on Pippie - it's where I was pointing at earlier in the thread. I missed the hotkey bit though (Alt+shift) to toggle. It's damned useful. It'll only work though when you've set up the turkish keyboard bit.

We have Vista and If you go to insert on the tool bar you can go to symbols on the far right and all of the letters are there.

Easy!
