jimmyG, if your lucky you won't find it. Believe in giving anyone the benefit of the doubt, the second visit was no improvement on the first. He might be "a nice bloke" if he knows you, not sure which one he was, or I'd have complained, but I've had better cooked food at me mums, and she was famous in faverdale for the grub she under/over cooked. She was name Glenys but nicknamed Rennies.

hi jimmy some people just love to say bad things about others if you have nothing nice to say SAY nothing.

after seeing denise in her picture i believe she has got us mixed up with some where else, because i remember

all my customers and i dont know this person.so please give us a try and please introduce yourself and i will buy you and your guests a drink .there are only 2 persons on front of house myself & my manager cengiz and we work hard

so as to make your evening enjoyable , sorry for this long speech but i feel quite upset that some one could make these remarks,

I've been there three times now, and I took my wife there the third time especially for the lamb cutlets, which were the best I'd had in TRNC. The service was very smooth and the rest of the meal as good as the chops.

I'm not a fan of having the bar so close to the diners, but I guess most Brits prefer that set-up anyway.

A nice place, good host and fine food.

Don't know where Denizen was, but I doubt it was Stevies...

Without wishing to be rude I feel sure that any restaurant owner would remember if Denizen had been in his bar if her photo is anything to go by, perhaps avatars are a better idea after all.

If you only want compliments, either make sure that ALL your customers are happy, not just those that you "remember", or don't post. I thought we were all entitled to opinions.

Rottolover, it was definitely Stevies, just my partner and I both times. It was recommended to us, maybe just an off day, or two.

Hattikins, insult other members photos when you get the guts to post your own. D

Denizen, if it really was Stevies and you took the trouble to try it again, why on earth didn't you point out to Stevie what the problems were?

How do you expect restaurateurs to improve faults in their presentations if you don't tell them?

A quite fair and reasonable response from Stevie would be the standard "Sorry but I'm not a mind-reader."

I've only been in Stevies once, 2 years ago, for Sunday lunch. I was in a party of 7, my bro-in-law, who was paying, is a regular customer. He told me how great it was. He knew Stevie and he made us most welcome, making a fuss of my great nephew. The starter, soup, was as good as any that I'd had. I'd ordered the lamb for main course. It was perfectly cooked and the gravy was delicious. Unfortunately, they were the only hot things on the plate. I assumed that as all the meals were the same, except for the meat, that all the plates were made up with the veggies then the meat and gravy added before serving. Mine must have been overlooked for a while. My bro-in-law asked what I thought of the meal, I told him it could have been a bit warmer. I assumed that all the meals were the same. It was only later that I found out that I'd got the only cold one. I didn't complain because I wasn't paying. I think it was a genuine mistake but I haven't been back. If I lived closer I think I'd go again

Well, after reading all the replies, it would seem that I am in the minority (a rather large minority, I am sure Kattykint might add) I accept that I must have been wrong, though memories of my time East of Girne with my then partner never evoke nice thoughts. I am sure that had the meal been as bad as I disremember HE would have been quick to complain. About the only thing HE'LL be remembered for. If I am ever dragged that way again, I will call in and go for third time lucky.

ps wasn't wrong about our mam's cooking though. Maybe I have a strained palate.

As many of you will know, i have visited hndereds of eateries in the TRNC and offered unbiast opinions about the food, service etc....

Stevies is a top place (a Neg Nick 9.5 out of 10)...

Stevie himself is warm and welcoming, Jengis would put to shame Maitre "D"s from top London restaurants, the service offered there is first class - and to top it all the food is top Dollar too....

I would totally ignore the OP's comments because she's talking tosh....

what's the saying "there's no such thing as bad publicity"

I reckon you owe me a free meal Stevie. I'm in Uk just now, but like Arnie, "I will be back"

If I could catch fish as easy as this, I'd buy a rod, and retire.

Hi denizen,

Just read your last post, 31.

Good to see you're going to give it another go.

Nobody's perfect, not even Stevie.

We have been to 2 Xmas dinners and BBQ nights in the summer,

never been disappointed, booked Xmas 2010 after 2009 meal,

in case Stevie was fully booked.

Next time you go, introduce yourself, he won't bite, I think.

Hope your next meal is as good as all the ones we've had,

By the way, Cengiz is the tall good looking bloke ))

Not sure about the "free meal"

but I'm sure he'll offer a brandy or two, on the house after your meal.

PS transparancy is good but sort the photo, am sure you scrub up well and can do better then that !!!

Re : message 34 - I too am a Londoner and I like listening to Stevie's accent - it is definitely (no offence) an old fashioned accent that we hardly hear anymore - sad really but Stevie really is part of a dying breed!!!

Have to confess that when I had lunch there in November 2008 I wasn't overly impressed, but have had great food and service ever since. The steaks are really very good [and HUGE], and the Sunday lunch is good value and plenty of it [I reckon Stevie has his old Mum slaving away in the kitchen doing the apple crumble!].

Being a West Ham fan I can't particularly enthuse about Stevie's choice of football team [Millwall], but the food's good enough to forgive him that anomaly.

Stevies Bar is a lovely place. I do remember going there last year and he had fresh tuna on the menu locally caught by a good looking english lad. and I think he may be having locally caught fresh GROUPER on the menu very soon.

Will call in next time we are over. Thanks for the recommendations. Have seen the sign for it but didn't have time to visit on our last visit.

I suppose there will always be moaning minnies, however good the food or service.
