Can anyone advise me which one gives the best quality coverage/signal strength on the mobile broadband. I've heard conflicting reports as to which one is the best. We are going to be staying very close to the Hotel Sempati.

I've already got an unlocked dongle and I know my way around mobile 3G broadband to a fairly technical standard. I just want to know which network gives the better coverage in the area we are staying.

Also - costs. I understand I can buy a sim only from Telsim shop for under £10 then can I just go on a pay as you go type arrangement £10 for 1gb download limit or £20 for 3gb. Can anyone please let me know on this one.

Thankyou

Continued.

But the main question is which provider gives the better coverage. It's mainly for skype with video calling to be honest.

Thanks again folks in advance

I suspect that both Turkcell and Telsim have decent coverage all over the Lapta area as they have equipment dotted around the district and, certainly in the village, we get good speeds from both. They both sell pay as you go cards but, for holiday use, Telsim is probably cheaper. Telsim cards start (for a 500 meg. download) at 14.49TL but you can also get 1,2,3 and 4 gig. The cards are valid for a month or until used up. I believe that Turkcell's minimum is 60TL but, somebody with Turkcell may be able to confirm this.

We have found Turkcell works well for normal internet use, but at busy times bandwidth drops, Skype become useless, also people expect normal internet speeds and try and download, not a good idea.

Hello

Thanks for all your replies. I think I'll give Telsim a try. It is better for us I think. Turkcell is too much to pay. By the sounds of it Turkcell gets too much traffic at certain times as well. A few people have said that Telsim is decent speed around Lapta now as well.

Thanks again !!

We have recently purchased a telsim dongle and found it worked well for skype most of the time when we had a 3g signal but during busy times when the signal dropped to 2g skype was not possible. We are in Alsancak.

Hi Cooper

I hope it works well in Lapta. If not I'll have to try Turkcell. From what I can gather Telsim is pretty good in Lapta though

Thanks
