Today is the first day of a new market at CLub Simena - looks good as the advert in Cyprus Today is big and bold and plenty of word of mouth as well - stallholders at Lambousa yesterday were asking each other whether they were "doing" Club Simena today - many answered in the affirmative. Lets see what reviews come through on 44.

I went to Club Simena- its first day - great venue!

A little tweaking was needed so I was informed that from Sunday 6th July the market will start at 12noon to coincide with their BBQ - average no of BBQ attendees is over 100 plus.

An all inclusive sunday - BBQ all you can eat for 15ytl, Market 12 to 4pm plus music - large pool and good surroundings. Several stallholders from other markets supporting the new venue - it looks as though it could be a winner - something for everyone on a day when both ex pats, holidaymakers and locals have their day off!

Not far from Tolgas ,in Karsiyaka

Trouble with these things is you get loads and they end up diluting already good events so none of them are good anymore. Good advert though!

It's a shame those stallholders didn't support this market when it was at Tolga's in Karsiyaka. Now it's moved across the road to the knocking shop. Lovely!!

Having just come back to Girne from UK - I sell at different markets in UK - my own view, for what it is worth, is never get involved in any internecine squabbles re venues moreover my first impression of the Club Simena area, that was allocated to us, was first class - in the shade and a clean pool and BBQ area. Drinks were reasonable and food looked ok.

Taking the point of dilution that was mentioned by Cyprus Sunday - yes I do agree that the market can be flooded with many venues, however, as Tolgas appears to have finished I suppose this one takes that Sunday slot.

What really concerns many of us are the different bars and cafes that are putting on the same Bingo and quiz evenings within the same locality and competing for the same crowd - there doesn't appear to be any innovation to put on something different and, in turn, will only swamp this "market".

Let's see how this sunday market "package" goes.

joandjelly,

Are you saying Club Simena is a brothel? Or what do you mean by knocking shop?

Bondi - no squabbles from me but you give the impression that Tolga's market just finished when actually the stallholders have taken it to Club Simena, Tolga's competition for food, drink and entertainment. To then use Tolga's as a landmark for directions is just rubbing it in.

Groucho - yes that is what I mean by knocking shop and I'm saying Club Simena and Mon Amour (which is behind it) are owned and run by the same people. IMO I believe that one supports the other.

bondi,

If your information is correct, I know at least one stall holder who has not been informed and has been attending Tolgas for the last 18 months.

Also if correct, this will be one stall holder not ruining their sunday afternoon!!!!

surely stallholders can go wherever they like. If it wasnt working at tolgas then try another venue. If it dosent work at Simena then i am sure they will move on its all about business and getting the maximum amount of people. Simena put on a lot on Sundays and i suppose this is what pulls in the punters.

Going home it may or not be a brothel ( by assosiation) but at least it's discreet.

Having been going there for nigh on 4 years the only thing I can say that was in the least bit salacious was a guy in his white lycra thong !!!

He was a stunning adonis type guy with blonde lock blue eyes and a phisique to die for........................................

going home,

I seem to remember at the start of this thread that you were telling people not to gossip about YOU. But you dont seem to care about gossiping about others. Maybe its a good thing your going home dont need this kind of thing on this island.
