Hi Charlotte

I can recommend villa carparis in Dipkarpaz. Rooms are lovely and food is fab if you decide to eat there (especially the lamb chops - need to order in advance.)

I think the web address is http://www.villacarparis.com

We have stayed there twice now, last time was at the end of October, but are planning a visit again very soon

Regards

Hi Charlotte

The Balchi is one of the local to us places. We spend a bit of time there and can certainly recommend it.

Balci Plaza is on the beach and an extremely large piece of land (something like 100 donums), and Villa Carparis is in Dipkarpaz and a bit further on from Balci, and more inland.

Depends on what you want.

Villa Carparis is newer than Balci, and the accommodation is slightly more luxurious than Balci, but no self catering facilities.

Villa Lembos is almost next door to Villa Carparis and is very similar, although the accommodation is slightly different.

Or if you want to get away from it all under the pine trees, then Pine View at Bjuyukonuk in wooden chalets of 1 to 3 bedrooms. One can self cater, but it is B & B in the restaurant which used to be the old school. Something like 40 euros a night. Cheaper than Balci, but of course a heck of a long way to the sea, but it is at Buyukkonuk which is the flag ship for ecotourism.

There are more places,

So, it is a question of what you want and what you want to pay. Both are about the same price, but obviously offer differen

Hi Charlotte if I were you I wouldn't bother wit Karpas...The Almond Holiday Village in Alsancak is with out doubt the BEST place to stay in Cyprus.

Blackbird - yes, Almonds is lovely, but the Karpaz is a completely different experience.

Yes I think Blackbird missed the point! Seems he needs to venture further than Alsancak to experience what is the best part of Cyprus.

Charlotte, I cannot reccommend places to stay as I live in Bogaz and do not stay in hotels in vsits to Karpaz, But take the route via Tatlisu and Kaplica and try and visit Kantara Castle and of course the lovely Bogaz Harbour. You will need to take the road via Kaleburnu to get to St Andreas monastry as the road through to Dipkarpaz is still being repaired.

Be prepared to pay a bit more for food etc at the beach restaurants, captive market etc, but do try Bumbles Beestro in Bogaz on you way through, great food and friendly atmosphere and good prices.

You will love the area, I am sure!

PS there is a buzz going around that Bogaz is best!

Stayed for the Millenium dawning right at the tip of the Karpaz with group of folk

in stone houses with no windows (not cold even on 31st Dec) and one man served

evening meal and breakfast. Lovely memory. We celebrated most of night at most

Easterly part of Europe and watched the dawn rise on the new millenium. Lovely day

and some of the British girls swam in the turquoise sea (oh, and one German man had

a quick dip!) Have also stayed at a small hotel called Blue Sea Lagoon, or something?

We have stayed at Balchi Plaza and Oasis which was wonderfully peaceful. However, I would suggest Balchi Plaza for the less adventurous maybe? Have a great weekend whichever you choose charlotte55. I'm sure you will.

Can I take it from your question you have never visited the Karpaz area?

Anyway, not off road at all unless you want to explore some fantastic beaches on the south karpaz coast. Roads are tarmac all the way to St Andrea monastry, we have electricity too

Just as a matter of interest, if I was up at the Karpaz and wanted a room for the night would I be lucky or are they usually full.
