Hi I am sure that I am not the only one to have problems with the main downstairs water tank running dry. When the tank is empty the pump is also dry,this can of course damage the pump ,but even if the pump is not damaged it still needs re priming which can be a job in itself.The best that the Kavanlar plumber can come up with is do not let the tank run dry.Ours is one of the upper tanks and it is a bit of a struggle to look inside,there is not a problem when just the two of us are there but when we have friends staying it is a nuisance.

Any solutions would be welcome.

Your pump should have a float switch installed that will stop the pump running if there is no water in the tank.



Check to see if you have one, if not get one installed

Thanks for the info Mark. I thought that there should be some sort of switch,do you know if Kavanlar fit a switch as standard as I have not got one fitted. The Kavanlar plumber told me to keep on climbing up to look in the tank but you need to be part monkey to do this. If not can you recommend a plumber who can fit this switch. Phil.

the downstairs tank holds 2tonne and from the main feed,yes?



so when it runs dry its because you have used it all ,our pump doesnt go off pumping until you draw or atte,pt to draw water .



is this the case with yours?obviously it cant pump water up if there is none in the tank.



depending on your circumstances ,like washer ,dishwasher ,how often you run water in shower (we water ,turn off then soap,then wash off ) 2 toone downstairs and 1 toone on the roof should keep 2 of you for a week at least .



is this the case or could you have a leak ?

i do know of 2 cases where the contents of a tank was running into another main tank for fire hydrants

also woodies if you want something checking ,try meps the maintenance company .



ring bahar and she will arrange her plumber to look at the problem they are both give good service

and if its a "kavanalar" problem she can sort this with ilker .
