Alan, from the Red Lion in Alsancak, and I had a chat and come up with a way to help those who can not get into Town to drop off any donation's to help Cyp44, they are trying to raise £2,000 to help up-date equipment etc. Izzet (Cyp44) has agreed that the Red Lion can be used as a drop off point for anybody to drop a sealed envolope with a donation in it, write the amount on the front, and signed. Izzet will then collect the envolop's from the Red Lion or Alan or I will take the money into Izzet.

Please put your hand in your pocket if you have not all ready and help them get the money they need, we all use it, so lets help out.

If C44 is struggling for cash why don't they make it a 'pay per post'.

When you join you deposit a sum of money, and every time you start a post your account is debited an amount (to be evaluated by the administrators). I see this as having a number of plus factors.

1, The people who use the forum would pay to support it.

2, It would cut down the amount of nonsense and drivel posted on here.

3, The businesses who advertise on here on a daily basis would pay for the advert.

Very interesting indeed, but by doing this, members will no doubt think twice before making a post which may limit the good posts...

The best idea was to charge for membership, say £1 per year.

But this is more likely to scare members away to other free board and we lose the largest local community here.

I don't like the idea of paying per post, but I really can't think people would complain about paying a small membership. For the enjoyment, entertainment and information that we get from this board, surely has to be worth a couple of lira a year

Marvo, great idea, I hope Izzet looks into it. Otherwise a £10 per year membership sounds reasonable for what we get from the board, and may keep the loonies/dual identities away.

If you start annual membership, would people still be allowed to log on free as guest to read postings? A lot of people seem to review posts but not all respond with postings. They are gleaning info which is what this board is a about.

For sale and wanted adverts could have a small charge, if you wanted to advertise in a newspaper or shop window

you have to pay so why not on here.

That is a good idea, have a small fee for Sale or Wanted adds the fee could cover let's say 1 week and then the listing is removed unless payment is made for another week.

Like you say you do not get free advertising elsewhere.

I agree Stella. I get a lot of useful information from this forum.

I don't read the drivel so it doesn't bother me. I would not object to a small membership fee. I consider it would be worth it in return for the useful information, and sometimes a good laugh!
