As some members have rightly pointed out , can we not open any more topics relating to the Ash Cloud , travel complications and the news due to it . And use the key one Travel 2009/2010

Many thanks , Simbas

simbas,

Great idea.

Could you also recommend that we do the same with all Lilli/Guido posts (intentional adverts)?

Then most of us would never have to see any of her highjacking nonsense again.

At least most people are interested in the travel situation - How many are really interested in Lilli and her clique constantly patting each other on the back? (Apart from the sad clique, of course).

Please give this some serious thought.

Thank you.

Regards,

Ozbey.

Ozbey What are you talking about?

Show me a thread that has been highjacked by Lilli?

Looking through her recent posts only 3 out of 50 are about Guidos Restaurant.

Tootie,

Try "British Airways - Due to return today" for starters.

Ther are plenty more, I get fed up with leaving threads because it has happened. I don't have the time - you look back for them, there are lots there if you look.

Anyhow, you miss my point - Lilli was only the most obvious example.

If simbas wishes to consolidate all threads relating to the same subject, then she should do it for all subjects, especially restaurants/bars advertising.

Tootie,

I can't be bothered to check your 3 out of 50 claim, but if true, I bet loads of the other 47 said "lovely to see you last night" or "come and see us next time you're here" or other similar cunning advertising phrases.

Maybe I missed the point by way of your post...

Like tamand says there are alot worse offenders (parklane, Alshaheen) and your post does direct personally towards Lilli.

You are either very brave or very foolish, but spot on ! Anyone looking in to this forum for the first time will think TRNC consists of stray dogs and Guidos, nothing personal but it does get a bit boring.

Hi Ozbey , Just like the way you have highjacked this thread you mean , i am not aware of any highjacking by Lilli , what i am aware of is that she responds to posts out of politeness . You don't have to read the posts Nobody ties your hands behind your back and forces you to read them .

Take care , Simbas

A few domestic airports have begun to re-open in the UK after five days of dead skies because of the volcanic ash from Iceland.

Airports in Scotland, Northern Ireland and the north of England are gradually beginning to send passenger planes up after five days without flights. However departures from the south of the UK are unlikely to resume on Tuesday.

Scottish airspace was the first to open, with Edinburgh and Glasgow airports offering a limited schedule of internal flights from 7am. After opening for a few short hours Belfast and Glasgow Airports have now closed.

Manchester airport, which had originally hoped to open at 9am and which put this time back to 1pm, has announced that it will not open before 7pm at the earliest.

British Airways was able to operate its first flight since Saturday, with a Boeing 777 taking off today from Beijing.

BA said it hoped the plane could land at Heathrow if flight restrictions for southern England were lifted later. If not, the aircraft will land in Scotland or at a European destination.

Based on the latest update from Nats, the air traffic control body, part of Scottish airspace including Aberdeen, Inverness and Edinburgh, and south to Newcastle, will continue to be available until at least 7pm. Due to the dynamic nature of the ash cloud schedules are liable to change at very short notice, with passengers advised not to travel to airports until they have checked with their airline or tour operator.

Hi simbas,

Re msg 17

You started this thread as a moderator suggesting that we keep all postings about a certain subject in one thread. I am supporting that idea, and suggesting that you extend it to all subjects, so why do you hint that I am highjacking your thread?

Whether you agree with my point or not, it was bang on subject!

Regards,

Ozbey.

Hi Ozbey , it was suggested by some members , and it made sense so i obliged . If thats what you all want regarding the ? highjacking of threads , i will discuss it with the other mods , but be prepared , that will mean that a lot of threads will be closed and a lot of people will be upset , maybe not you , but we have to take all the members feelings into consideration not just a few

Take care , Simbas

Would it not be best to leave the 'flights 2010' thread for Tom to issue informative info, and to use this as the chattering classes thread?

The latest Met Office info indicates no change in wind direction from NW (from Iceland), to SW, until Fri at the earliest. So maybe by the weekend we can look forward to flights returning to something just short of chaotic!
