If you have a flight from Larnaca flying with Thomas Cook in the next few days, ignore any emails you may get saying all flights are resumed and ring the airport! My husband and mum were due to fly out this morning and we had an email saying that all flights were on from today and when we checked the Larnaca airport website it showed the flight as still being on schedule - even after it was SUPPOSED to have taken off from Newcastle. For some reason in the mean time Thomas Cook have cancelled ALL flights, not just to and from Cyprus but declined to tell those they had already reassured!!!! On the plus side they are in a lovely hotel on the south side, all inclusive funded by Thomas Cook.

Update: Looks like no emergency flights out of here today as TC are trying to get around 4000 stranded passengers out of Tenerife!

A Thomas Cook flight from Manchester to Corfu turned back early this morning as the pilot smelled fumes in the cockpit over the North Sea.

Wish the cruise ship was going via Larnaca Hubby would LOVE that! I feel so sorry for the TC rep as the company are giving him no idea about when a flight can be expected. Even the rep cannot understand why the company decided to cancel all flights. I wouldn't noramlly be bothered and would have re-booked but mum is very fragile and hubby has important scans at hospital a few days after their scheduled return - oh well, best laid plans and all that
