The Bella View Hotel, on the Bellapais Rd, on the left, halfway up the hill, have an interesting art gallery. Not open full time but if you phone ahead they will give you a viewing. I t also includes furniture, lighting etc. Not cheap, but really interesting. Nice bar/pool area to relax in as well.

p.s. As it's a 'boutique' hotel, they normally don't accept any children under 15.

Which is why we've stayed there a couple of times.!

p.p.s. Might also suit some posters who dont like noisy venues or inflatable crocodiles in the pool.

Starting at the main roundabout in Girne (where you can head into town, up the hill to Lefkosa etc), head towards Bellapais (passing Gardenia wedding dress shop, Ramsay menswear). As you come around the bend approaching the Bellapais traffic lights, you will see a gallery on your left called Arty Art. It's opposite Henry Charles Estates.

We got a decent size original painting there and had it custom-framed the same day for 300 ytl.

You can buy original paintings at the round tower in Girne (ask for Svetlana), the SideStreet exhibitions in Lefkosa (just up from the main Post Office), At Belleapais Abbey you will find the occasional exhibition, and also the Toros Opel dealership has exhibitions in its upstairs conference facility.

Also at some time this year they have the North Cyprus painting competition open to amateurs and pro's it is held at the Buyuk Han (old inn) in Lefkosa.

A number of local artists also exhibit their works at the Chateau Lambousa Market on saturdays.

There is a small Gallery in KARAMAN village centre just behind the church and down from SPOT bar, selling original local paintings.

If its closed you can get the key from the village shop.

Not wanting, of course, to take away trade from locals and especially local artists - I own an art gallery in Essex (NO I AM NOT APPLYING FOR TRADE) but just wanted to know because I will be taking art to TRNC for our villa when we complete in September - does anyone have any advice about cargo?? Not much though, we are flying for the first time with Pegasus from Stansted, are they strict on luggage allowance - with thanks!!
