Turkey is too hot mid August so you're comming to Cyprus ????????

don't forget to bring your warmest undies cos' it's gonna be cold!!

price it up:

say 3,600 miles at 40mpg, thats around 400 litres at say an average of a pound a litre, plus wear and tear, accomodation, 5 nights at least, ferries, food etc.

5 days each way of your holiday used up, though good sight seeing, if you drive slow enough, away from the autobahns, and stop occasionally to enjoy, (then add 2+ days to the journey).

Possibility of break down, more days lost, missed feryy (days wait)

Doesn't sound much like a holiday to me.

Get on a flight and compared to what you are contemplating, the hour wait on the tarmac in Turkey will seem a joy.

Good holiday place: depends on your needs/expectations/budget.

So what if I say October instead? Case of jumping out of the frying pan into the fire? I think I will have another look at august maybe iceland? I suppose that if I had a six week holiday looming it would be great but again not in August. What doe the people who have bought in North Cyprus do during the month of August then?

Hello Jackeen, I think you would be very brave if you attempted to drive to North Cyprus and back in 3 weeks and have an an enjoyable holiday!

North Cyprus will also be very hot in August, Your best bet is to get a package deal....Flight, accomodation, transfers etc and hire a car. You will have a much better time and memorable Holiday. Try Travel Councellors http://www. Get a Cyprus Turkish Airlines flight, Stay at the Pia Bella Hotel and hire a car direct from the Pia Bella. I promise you will have a wonderful Holiday!!!!!

A minimum stay of 10 days is recommended.....7 is too short.

Good luck

Nothing, it is too hot!!!!

As for driving here for a holiday I agree with Brian - not worth the cost and all the potential problems of bureaucracy enroute.

October? fantastic time to visit, cool enough to visit cultural areas like Salamis/St Helerion/Famagusta old city/Nicosoa old city etc etc. .......... water still warm enough to swim, all provided it doesn't rain, but as it's never gonna rain agian so I wouldn't worry about that.

For a 6 week holiday, I think the drive idea would be a fun thing to do, but deff not for 3.

Nunu's option is good, Pia Bella is lovely, and in a very convenient location, though Acapulco/Oscars (is it still called Oscars) better for water slides!!

The Ship probably gets one of the best recommends though on the BB's, and you are sure to meet other members there.

Get yourself booked and enjoy.

Thank you for that information Nunu1 and cyprusishome. I'm afraid when I go on holiday is the full 14 days in the summertime, I have a month off and holiday abroad for half of it. I will def have a look at travel councellors or travel independently and see how much it will cost at the pia bella hotel and the hire car of course. Once again thank you.

Jackeen,

I've made the driving trip a couple of times and it worked very well for us. A real experience if you are a traveller rather than a tourist. Try the other BBs as well as I think it's best to speak to people who've actually done the journey as there's more than one way to do it. We went via southern Europe and the Balkans then right through Turkey to the Med which was the cheapest and less hassle option for us. Driving and then spending three weeks in Cyprus is fine but going there and back within three weeks would only give you about seven or eight days. Good luck anyway.
