I'm not an expert on the place but in my opinion......

You could get round the edge along the old tarmac path but not the majority of it. The baths, gymnasium etc would be too difficult to get around unless you had some strong bods to lift the chair up and down.

Thinking about it, you would definitely miss about 90% of the place.

You would need a strong man on the wheelchair Geoff Capes in his heyday

Hello I have been to salamis and I can assure you it is not wheelchair friendly, as message 4 says you will need a strong man and even then I think you will struggle, sorry because it is a wonderful place

Been there, done that and I am afraid the answer is NO!

Maybe if you had a powered chair with smaller, wider wheels it might be possible to get around some of the site but, I found to try and push a normal weight person in a normal wheelchair anywhere off the metalled road was just about impossible because of the stony, uneven surface of the paths. In fact in places it was downright dangerous.

I asked at the entrance if it would be possible to take the car beyond the car park and was told emphatically 'No'.

It was explained to me that the reason they do not allow any cars on the site was that in the past artifacts have gone missing. I did offer to let them look in the boot of the car on the way out.

My passenger was nearly catapulted out of the chair several times when we hit large stones, the rest of the time the wheels stuck in the fine gravel.

We only got as far as the ampitheatre before I almost collapsed with exhaustion and worry!

Hard enough on a walking stick though being a Historical site, it's a hard one to call however, the prices they charge for entry the Tourist Board could make it somewhat disable friendly.

Seems TRNC not very good for disabled, went to Belapais wheelchair kept getting stuck in uneven pathways.

Also quite a few restaurants are useless to the disabled.

Msg 9

Not wanting to go too PC, there are lots of things that different Government Departments could implement without too much difficulty to making things slightly easier for the disabled.

There was an article in the Cyprus Mail last month declaring that the wheel had not been invented in the RoC

Also often you see the able boded wounded returning to the UK on flights because of trips and falls on the pavements

On costs and facilities the Tudors were more wheelchair friendly than the Greeks and Romans but Hampton Court
