My family and I are coming to Northern Cyprus for one month during the school holidays. To prevent my 10 year old son from getting bored does anyone know of any childrens clubs or activities he can get involved with?

GAU were running some children's clubs during the summer although I'm not sure of what type of activities they are or when

Water park Lapta, great day out.

Remember to bring quality sun lotion – Boots own make, ‘Soltan Once’ Factor 40 or 50 one application lasts about 6 hours, 3 or 4 in water, but make sure you get the children’s one, the grown up’s one doesn’t last as long.

Get up early nice and early one morning before it gets too hot and explore St Hilarion Castle, my two love the place and I must admit I think it's magical myself!

The Acapulco Hotel has some slides and large swimming pools, very popular at weekends but quieter during the week. They do charge an entry fee but I don't know how much it is. While you are out go to the Turtle project at Alagadi beach. From end of July onwards they will be releasing newly hatched turtles into the sea about 5pm, again avoid weekends as it will be mobbed. This will be something he will remember forever and there aren't many places in the world that he will be able to see this happening.

He could also try tandem paragliding bookable at Highline Tours down at Girne Harbour. Last year it cost £50 so it's not cheap but it is wonderful, my son and I did it last year for our Birthdays. They take you up and past St. Hilarion Castle and you just walk off the mountain.... Their number is 0542 855 5672

Kantara & Buffavento Castles are not too far from Esentepe, if I remember correctly they are open until 7 or 8pm so you could always go late in the day to avoid the worst of the heat. There's also plenty to see in Girne castle at the harbour.

There are plenty of places doing Scuba Diving courses, nearest one to Esentepe is at Alagadi Beach.

Did the paragliding also, fantastic experience, they will collect you from your hotel. Lovely journey up to the top, and really nice people too. Bit pricey but very enjoyable.

Found a leaflet about the scuba diving at Alagadi beach. They do 'Try dive/bubble makers' aimed at children 8+ for £25 and 'Discover Scuba Diving' anyone over 10 years for £25. The company is North Cyprus Scuba Centre, telephone 0533 868 3165 or email cengizbergun@hotmail.com
