If you contact Marian at the HBPG she will send you a Will template - http://www.hbpg-trnc.net/documents/Will.html

There have been loads of threads about this recently. If you put 'wills' in the search box near the top of the page you will be able to get the info.

Dutch Crusader put a will on that you can down load to do yourself.

It really is quite simple and not as expensive or convoluted as some solicitors make out. Just complete the template will, grab two witnesses who will have to sign your will when you register it, get the right number of stamps from the post office (I thing it was 34TL but could be corrected!) and take it and your witnesses to the little office next to the court in Girne. They will check it all and seal it before storing.

The current cost is one 34tl stamp and one 7tl stamp, bought at post office, per will to be taken to court office.

It is better if you make an appointment because the registrar is a very busy lady and if you just turn up you may well be turned away or expect a long wait. Her assistant speaks excellent English.

Also you can only go monday, wednesday and friday.

All details on HBPG site.

This method works if benificiaries are to share equally the proceeds of the estate. If there are seperate and complex payments etc then you need a different method. We MADE the bequests fit the pro forma by talking to benificiaries first.

I redid mine today. Kav sent me the template. It costs 34 lira in stamps for the will document and 6 lira in stamps for the ledger entry. You can sign the will in front of 2 witnesses away from the Registry Office but enter their TRNC or UK address under their names. Take the will and the stamps to the Court Buildings and go in the plain door to the left of the tax office. There is a door immediately on your right, Knock and if she is prepared to see you she will unlock it from a button on her desk, she may be busy and ask you to come back in 5 minutes if she hasother customers. There is a bench outside the unmarked door. Give the lady the will, your stamps and your passport. She will stick the 34 lira ones on the will and you will have to sign across them. She will then seal the will in an envelope using sealing wax, you will have to sign it and you are given a slip for its retrieval.

Continued. Don't loose this and make a note of its number, in the event of your demise its the only way your beneficiaries can trace the will, otherwise it is an expensive search. Piece of cake really. Lem

Sorry, after you go in the unmarked door next to the Tax (Tapu) Office, its the door on the left. The door on the right, usually open, looks through to the staff behind the tax office counter.

Just returned from the registrar, but as I did not make an appointment hwve to go back Friday.

Cost of stamps is 35.50 TL and 6 TL to register.

Also they told me that as my witnesses would not be able to come with me on Friday all I need to do is get them to put their passport numbers where they have signed.

Have now registered our wills and it was the easiest process we have experienced since becoming resident in June. Didn't take even ten minutes.....
