Has anyone had water connection in Girne recently as our builder is asking for 1600 TL which he says is the Belideyesi charge. There are 12 apartments in the block making a total of approx 8500 stg connection fee altogether which seems astronomical.

Why don't you simply go and ask the Girne Belideyesi - when I've had queries, I've always found them most pleasant and helpful.

Hi, just seen your query and can tell you that we had to pay 1600ytl last December for a 55 sq. mt. apartment in town. I was flabbergasted at the cost. This was a payment made direct to the Water authority in town - had to be paid in cash...... Hope this helps. PS. Our electric meter cost us 279 ytl.

Stewart, our water meter cost us 1600 ytl in December, 2009, and that was for a small apartment in town. Sounds like you were lucky....
