I have to say I was shocked at the owner's attitude. He really made my blood boil. After 1 day of wearing some platform summer shoes costing 60 lire the inner wedges deflated by 1/2 an inch, causing my feet to turn in. I said I have looked around and could he refund my money as I didnt see anything else. The first thing he said was Im not going to refund your money or change these shoes. Its obvious you walk on the inner part of your foot, well actually I walk on the outer part of my foot and anyway after 1 day of wearing them they shouldnt change their shape at all. His attitude made me shout dont buy from this shop and he told me to.........huck off you hunt (Im typing polite). I cant believe he talked to a customer in that way. Shocking.

Sounds like the sort of place where you can't complain about the 'service' - if there is none!

my tenpenny worth.....

'er in doors bought some new shoes there and a couple of days later something came loose inside and started to rattle when she walked (there is a joke in there somewhere).

We took them back expecting a refund, but the best he would do was "to get them repaired".....

in his defence, the repair did the trick, but his atitude means my missus will not be returning....

I now use Mustafa, the shoe maker, opposite The Dome. Old fashioned looking shop but I have just bought a fab pair of high heeled black patent shoes, for a wedding, there.

He had some lovely shoes and sandals in. He also made me a lovely pair of shoes for my son's graduation. Such a nice man compared to the objectionable person in the High Street.

I bought a bag (not cheap) the handle broke! so I took it back, he said "you have been swinging it around" excuse me!! "why would I do that" he then told me to "go away" but not those exact words!!!!! so I stood there and said "I am not moving until I am satisfied that you are going to offer me my money back or repair the bag" he then threw the bag behind the counter and said come back next week. I went back and he had it repaired, so I took it and told him I thought his attitude was appalling and I would never return. As I left he looked like he was going to burst all his blood vessels! needless to say the bag soon dropped in bits! He always has 50% off, his stock is not worth even half price! it's cheap c--p!!!!! what a horrible man x

Seriously, some really lovely shoes. Could spend hours just looking at them (could spend even longer ordering them)

Going back to Foxy Lady. It`s a shop I hate to go in (don`t any more). As soon as you are through the

door they follow you round so closely and dont leave your side. Feel very uncomfortable.

I had a similar experience with that dreadful person in 'Foxy Lady', and more recently with 'Feniks', the jewellery shop on the main high street, although I must say there was no abuse there. On this occasion my husband was with me and we saw red when refused a refund for faulty goods. So, we went to the police and told them our story. They couldn't have been more helpful and said although they couldn't do anything we should contact the 'Consumer Association', in Nicosia. They then went to the trouble of givng us their address and 'phone number.

My husband 'phoned the 'Consumer Association', and spoke to Hassan Shik who said absolutely for faulty goods our money should be refunded. As requested after providing all the details of 'Feniks', and our altercation with them they have contacted the proprietor on our behalf and we are now awaiting our refund.

Here is the link to their website which although in Turkish does give you contact details - http://www.cyprusconsumers.org

Sayal Shoes have are already named on the 'Consumer Association', website under the section on the left marked 'Teşhir', which means (I think) to expose. I do know that this website 'names and shames', so perhaps that is what has happened. Perhaps one of our Turkish speakers could confirm this.

I also bought some boots there in December, after one day the rubber on the end of the heel came off, which I took back and they repaired it, but it didn't match the other boot and made a clunking sound when I walked! Then a few days later the lining started peeling away from the inside of the boot leaving lumps on the bottom of the inside of the shoe which rubbed on my feet causing blisters! I learned my lesson there, cheaper is certainly not better and I wouldn't go back there again!

Exactly the same happened to me. One wear and the pretty link on front was broken. He told me it was where I bend my foot when I walk!! Not sure how to walk without bending my foot. If any arrangements get made to stand outside his shop, let me know. I will be there!!! Very nasty man.

If I print off this post is anyone interested in helping me hand them out to passers by say one day in the week or should I just forget it. I cant believe I got so much feedback. I doubt Cyprus Today will print this whole posting and cant think of another way to warn people about his rudeness.

From memory, last year, there was a letter in Cyprus Today from a woman who went into the shoe shop and because they did not buy anything, they were verbally abused, told they had wasted the shop assistants time and told to get out. Why not write/email to CT and tell them of your experience? Judging on the response to this thread, they have already lost a lot of customers!! Regards, Mrs Snakes

Well yes Cyprus Today is an option, but it will be read only once and it wont include all these stories, unless they quote the forum for people to read. I cannot write the exact words he said to me so how do I translate those foul words?

What about - whenever anyone's in town, they go into the shop and spend hours trying on every pair, but then leave without buying anything!! From the sound of the man he will probably ban all English customers after a while of this.

I agree with everything above.

I used to get shoes from that place (not anymore - and it is only because of owner's attitude!) .

Once I bought a pair of sandals, and they broke in HALF after 2 hours of walking in them. I took them back to the shop, and then the Owner (May God be his judge - but he is very rude) just rolled his eyes and said: what??? I dont want to know anything! your shoes were run over by a car!!! And I brought some arguments in - but only wasted my time.

Horrible unsupportive man - ZERO customer care, they just have bussiness because of location & tourists. But he is losing us, who live here on the island - his fault! May those who treet clients with respect benefit.

(love AYAKABI DUNIYASIi!! amazing man, always gives discounts & repears shoes for free if something goes wrong)

Sienna, hi!

I also did like a few shoes I bought from Sayal - and some of them are a good value for money. (but it is like 2 % of the whole stock and they are HARD to find)

BUT - get UNLUCKY with your choice just once - and you will feel what some of us felt: helpless!!!!

Personally, i'd still pop in to that store - i like the wariety. But I dont want to support a business of such an unfriendly careless mucker. Sorry.

Well I cant believe the response I have received about this b....tard. I am going to print off some leaflets (advising people to check this forum out before purchasing from that shop). Dont think I can get into trouble doing that).

Cyprus 8 and any others who would be happy to dish out some leaflets over the season, I and many others would be very appreciative of your support.

List your local venue where I can leave them with your name on or your cyprus44 name, so you can pick them up when ready.

hiya lost im sure he will, you have no idea how many customers i sent there when we had the other restaurant, what will they think of me when they got home and thier shoes broke. he is the rudest man i have ever encountered here. he will get whats coming to him and its a shame as some of the shoes are so beautiful. i bought a fantastic pair of boots from angora after two times on the heel snapped. I took they back and in the afternoon I had a brand new pair delivered to the restaurant, now that is service xxx

I have a big problem here trying to find anything over size 10.

Now I just go in the shop and ask if they have anything over a size 46?

They look at my face then my feet and back to my face and say....... ERR No !

I advise caution. Has legal advice been sought? If not stop now and review your position. The contents of this thread are enough to satisfy the UK definition for Libel.

Libel (for written, broadcast, or otherwise published words) is the communication of a statement that makes a claim, expressly stated or implied to be factual, that may give an individual, business, product, group, government, or nation a negative image.

It is usually, but not always, a requirement that this claim be false and that the publication is communicated to someone other than the person defamed.

TRNC law is not my field but I am sure somebody can check on the legalities.

My advice (for what it's worth) seek out the local Consumer Council or Trading Standards equivalent (if one is available) at the very least a locally elected representative. Register your dissatisfaction. Prove your purchase to be substandard by getting them to acknowledge it and then formulate an action plan. Don't go straight for the jugular, it will end in court and it will be expensive.

I am truly surprised that the owner of this site has not stepped in by now! He too is at risk.

I cant believe this post, its soooo old hat, we have all heard about this monkey, many times before and read about him in the Cyprus Today.

The simplist thing to do is not go in his shop Foxy Lady (Sayal Shoes) Girne High Street

, unless you want to waste a bit of his time but never under any circumstances give him any money for anything, not a penny, never ever.

Easy as that, job done

My advice is to take note of what sal says and don't shop there any more. The point has been made as to this mans manners and integrity and read by many now. Steve

Message 55 - there is a Consumer Association in Nicosia - please look at message 23 on this thread where i gave details. They recently took on a case for us at no charge and we got our money back for faulty goods purchased from Feniks in the high street Girne.

Foxy Lady is already 'named and shamed', on their website - http://www.cyprusconsumers.org and so are other retailers who have not followed this organisation's guidelines.
