Are there any spots off of the north coast that are not permitted to be fished, and how would you know where they are. and for what reason.

Got moved on by the coastguard from a spot in front of the new harbour before. There is a dive reef there and its protected allegedly.

If you get too close to Snake Island you are likely to get hassle too (Military and Denktash area).

I would avoid inshore fishing in front of any army base to be on the safe side (Some firing ranges face out to sea).

If you anchor up around Technecik Power station bouys you could get grief (not sure but probably?).

all diving sites are protected. Any hunt around or in there are heavily punished, even with imprisonment. also TC fishermen are not allowed by law to enter or hunt in these areas. Starting infront of Powerstation (near Teknecik) Fred (New Harbour), Cockpit (old harbour), Zeyko + Extra Virgin (Karaoğlanoğlu), Bambi (Escap region), Zephiros (Merit + Mare Monte region) and lots of more.. - Karpaz area, bomber plane in Esentepe, some ancient spots etc etc..

As Henrik explained, a Denktash area is a place where one might find a Denktash. In this case a 'Rauf' Denktash.

They don't like you sailing or taking any boats too close to the Army Bases... They blow whistles to warn you off.

How would I know if I was near a dive site, are they clearly marked, I went to get my fishing licence the other day and checked on the restrictions that may be applicable. and there was no mention of dive sites, where can I find out about this law in writing with the penalties in writing. I am going to need to know everything about it to remain safe from the law, like minimum distance allowable to fish from these places, and everything else. any info about the where abouts of these documents would be greatfully recieved. Not that I dont believe anyones word but if prison sentences are involved then its best to make sure I get it right.

message 12, will do, thanks, but there are some problems with the dive site protection laws. I got my licence and the guy who gave me it never mentioned it, and the fishing shops say you can fish where you like, so mis information could cause some problems with that, never the less I will check with the police an the other place,
