I no longer have any time to go walking in the evenings which I must do every day or my hips and bum rapidly expand!! (bikini weather is starting!!) Does anyone have a 'cheap' exercise bike which I could plonk in front of the TV so I can cycle away whilst watching EastEnders, or does anyone have one I could just borrow for a couple of weeks?! If you can help, could you call me on 05338663921. Thank you!

Try Tektan in town (opp Mavi Jeans, just past the Socrates hotel) they have a range of exercise bikes etc and the prices are reasonable

Buy a proper bike, it's much more fun cycling around the villages and back roads than plonking yourself in front of the tv

Thanks Paul!! I wanted an exercise bike to use in the house when I got back from work. I could spend 5 mins at a time on it IN BETWEEN feeding the cats, marking homework/exams, preparing lessons, unloading the washing machine, doing the ironing, doing the hoovering, unblocking the hoover, cleaning the house, cooking my supper, eating my supper, mending the roof, sorting out the damp patches, watching EastEnders, filling the hot-water bottle, (yes, I am still using mine), preparing a training programme for the personnel, .....................oh look, it's time for bed! Is this when I'm supposed to get on the 'proper' bike and have fun cycling round the villages and back roads?? Have YOU ever tried cycling in Karmi????? In the dark???

Oh Clairecat good luck.

Your post has brought back memories of teaching and house-wifing in the UK and reminded me why I threw in the towel and moved out here!

Point taken about Karmi but it would be an easy ride down to the coast - not much fun coming back though !!

Maybe the exercise bike is the best option after all

Claire,

I don't understand, you don't have time to go for a walk but you do have time to sit and watch Eastenders.

Is it because there is a time warp linked to Eastenders because everytime I see someone watching it they seem to have the lost look in thier eyes, maybe this would explain it !!!

I would suggest Tektan aswell, I got my wife one of those crosstrainers but it also has a saddle so you can use it like a bike or walking/running /ski-ing machine. It is a bit of a combination make you look silly whilst getting fit machine. They also deliver and set it up for you, nice people.
