I have a Karjen automatic generator and now that we are hardly getting any powercuts I would like to know how to switch it off until needed, every time I walk past it is buzzing, so obviously wasting electric. Any help would be much appreciated.

As the old engineering adage has it: "When all else fails, read the instructions".

We've had the generator for 4 years and I've never had to deal with it, but my husband died last year and unfortunately now I have to learn how to doall this myself. Tried pressing buttons and the big red button and soon as I push it the generator starts up. Sorry if you think I'm a bit dim when it comes to generators, but, like I said, never had to do it before.

Thanks for your input Vaughan, but I've never needed the instructions and they'd probably be in Turkish anyway. Just thought I might get a bit of helpful advise?????

The humming noise you can hear is the battery being float (trickle) charged. It will not use much electricity and keeps the battery in good condition for when you do need to use the generator. Unless it is really annoying you I should leave it as it is. Edmund
