Hi All

We are (hopefully)!! moving out permanently to our little house in Kucuk Erenkoy in the next few months. Ideally we want to fly from Wales to Larnaca in the south.

Will this cause any problems in getting our Residents permit? Previously we have always flown to Ercan and had the slip of paper for temp residence.

Do we need this paper to apply for the residency?

Would appreciate some information on this-thanks!!

I don't know if you need that paper, but you will be given that paper when you come across the border anyway.

Also, this can be good read:

We fly from Cardiff into Larnaca all the time. We have work permits and it's never been a problem. Just cross the border where you will get your little slip of paper (the visa for 3 months) and then apply for your proper residency as per the normal process. It will be fine.

Thanks Kitty for the info-much appreciated.

Is it difficult to find work in the North? Alec, my hubby is a construction worker, but now looking for lighter work. Welding, tiling, flooring that kind of thing. I have mostly worked in an office, but am very adaptable!!

Would appreciate any info-good or bad!!

Hi Piglet

For your husband yes, he will find work, though there is a tendancy for expat tradesman here to rip off the Brits, those that are reliable and do a good job(and know what they are doing) are few and far between and well sought after. He can expect 50GBP per day, if at all possible bring tools with him, over here its very much who you know, look after people and they'll def tell friends.

Good luck with the move, it takes some getting used to but having been here 18 months there is no way on Earth i'd ever return to the UK.

Hi ttoli or anyone else

How much do you feel someone would need to earn each month to be comfortably off/to live comfortably in NC?
