Gordon has offered his resignation, now wait for the chaos, England could now be governed by a mish mash of minority political parties, it is beyond belief, it spounds like a recipe for disaster, lets see if the Germans will bail us out, I think the for sale board will be going up here and a swift move out with you lot quicker than expected.

I think with the unexpected backlash from lib/dem supporters against an alliance between the Cons/Libs its no wonder that Cleg now wants to talk with labour .Cleg is on now saying that he has not come to any agreement with the Conservatives. Now that Brown has resigned he now thinks that this is the time to talk with Labour.Cleg always said that he wouldnt work with Brown hence the Labour party sacrificed him.Still could go either way.

As long as Clegg can get his proportional representation he will jump into bed with with anyone, probably even the BNP, it really dos`nt look good over here listening to the political commentators and pundits, he would have been better off staying in "Last of the Summer Wine"

Gordon actually said that he would stand down when a new leader for the party had been found.

He could still be there until October but the point he was making was that he wouldnt be there if Clegg wanted a pact.

However if it does happen it means once again that you would have a leader of a party that had not been elected by the people.

It's a stitch up between Labour and LibDem.

Now we are all in for it. I'm dreading the months ahead.

One fifth of the votes but only one tenth of the seats. Sounds very fair to me, he may as well resign and live in TRNC and take over the BRS!

Just a point. We don't actually vote in a leader of a party - the party does, and when we vote we vote for a local candidate of a party not for it's leader.

Gordon Brown has resigned as leader of the Labour party - and an election for new one will be held

He is still Prime Minister until the mess is sorted out - it is dragging on too long.

I crept into 10 Downing Street today and discovered dozens of empty bottles of alcohol strewn all over the place.

It was Gordon's Gin.

Absolutely correct, Labour is still in power but they need another PM that can work with Clegg hence my message 13.

The pound dropped against the dollar as soon as Clegg and Brown started talking and reading the papers tonight they all are saying that the stock market in UK will slump - I would have thought Brown would have resigned on Friday morning - he will promise anything as long as Labour stays in power - thank goodness I am here, but do feel very sorry for those who are not as lucky as us.

So, the two losing parties get to win and govern us for the next 5 years. This just doesn't seem right to me especially given the terrible financial position we are in due to Labour. Gordon Brown has been a disaster for this country since 1997 and he has taken a profitable business (UK Plc) to the brink of bankruptcy. If this proposed coalition between Labour and the Lib Dems comes about, then I say all those that voted Conservative should take to the streets to display their horror.

Given the amount of money he's lost us all he should bevheading off to

prison rather than a comfortable retirement. I suppose he'll be writing his self-praising memoirs and blame everyone else for this horrendous situation we are all in.

Labour and LibDems together would represent 52% of the votes whereas the Tories on their own only represent 36%. Whatever you say, there is no support for either the Tories or Labour to rule the country. A form of proportional representation is the only way forward.

Msg 23 Sorry a bit confused by this as the Conservatives total vote count was 10,706,647 and labour was 8,604358 Liberal was 6,827,938, in my mind the Conservatives had the greater number of votes by 2 million and therefore are the clear winners, by putting Labour and Liberal together to give them 52% of the votes surely there many voters in each of their camps which dont want to be linked to another party and may have voted differently if they thought that they would be part of a coalition with party whose policies they disagree with, the main problem is the way the political map of UK is drawn up, with high percentages of one party in small areas, and comes back to traditional voting patterns in these constituencies for many years.

A Lib lab pact would be a complete disaster, and would have no moral or parliamentary majority, and there would have to be another General Election.

And we in Scotland will get a government - again - that most of us did not vote for.

Come to think of it a lot of our P.M's have come from Scotland, Ramsay MacDonald,

MacMillan, Douglas Hume, and even Cameron has Scots forbears as his name shows!

There have also been a fair number of LibDem seats as well as SNP, but no Cons. for

quite some time. I do remember seats near here being staunchly Con. - but things have

changed since Thatcher - she did that for Scotland.
