Basher

There used to be someone on here a few years back who did removals from the South to the North .He was I think the son of a mixed marriage therefore was able to pull strings on both sides.

I am talking 4/5 yrs ago so I dont no if he is still in the market.

Maybe another member will remember him.

Basher

We moved from South to North a couple of years ago. We tried a number of removal companies in the South but only one (Columbia) were willing to do the move. The move was fairly straightforward but costly. It actually cost us more to move from Limassol to Kyrenia than it did to move out to Cyprus from the UK.

Good luck

basher - we did it in 2005 - wish we hadn't.

If you thrive on hassle, by all means do it!

We made 44 trips in our car to bring our stuff, cos we couldn't find anyone prepared to shift it. At least that avoided all the custom crap they insist on here. We just drove through with the car 'loaded to the gunwhales'. We just told the border Customs ( if stopped) that we'd just moved to TRNC and (then) they let us through. They told us that if we should bring a van, we would then have to go through all the complicated Customs rigmarole - translation, etc, - all rip-off tactics.

Remember you can't get title deed to pre '74 Turkish Title property. They'll try and sell you 'Exchange' that hasn't been exchanged, so still belongs to the Greek owner 'prin to braxikopima'.

If you can possibly afford to stay put - and I know it's getting ludicrously expensive there (as here) - my sincere advice is to do so.

'Out of the frying pan into the fire!' immediately springs to mind.

Try asking Jo Valentine since they do removals and they deal with both sides of the Island. Worth a try.

Basher, I have met a number of people who moved from South to North. As most of them bought on Amaranta Valley, I guess they would have a few comments to make!

However, they preferred the North to the South in other respects.

Oooooooh ! You're very brave. The North is a savage country peopled by cannibals. . Didn't anyone in the South warn you ?

Let's be practical - the money people spend by moving from South to North, they never take into consideration. As a couple who have done it - believe me, from our own bitter experience!

That money would easily have kept us in the South for another few years.

Anyway, as I've posted umpteen times before, coming North cost us half our life savings due to 'no duty of care' by advocate, coupled with 'third world' legal principles - because don't ever believe it's 'British Law'.

But if you get in a 'legal wrangle', as we did, you'll soon find out - to your considerable cost!

We are in Zeytinlik, applied for PTP in Aug. 2005 and were refused (excuse: too close to military) .......hmmm......

We can't even see anything 'military' from our property - except on 'Google Earth' - same as everybody!

basher

Take greed heed of the advice of Tenakoutou who speaks from hard earned bitter experience. You can never recoup the months & years of anguish and heartache that problems in the TRNC have and disgustingly continue to cause to good honest people.

Re msg 5: that is NOT true. I hope you aren't one of those people in the South who use this forum to put around doubts and dis-information about the North!

Geoff/Msg 16:

I have lived in TRNC almost 5 years - I lived 24 in the South.

I have never exaggerated, or lied, about my (bad) experiences, either North or South, I can assure you and anybody else.

I glad everything has been so 'plain-sailing' for you!

Have you ever been 'caught up' in litigation in TRNC?

I await your reply...........

TopTen - where does it say, or even intimate, in message 16 that Geoff hates the North? Surely he is saying the opposite?

Be aware that some people have had bad experiences but also be aware that most havnt!!! For most of us here, we are all happy and its much cheaper to live up here. More beautiful and Im sure the south has as much red tape as the north. Buy a property that has been completed or a resale to make sure you know what your buying. Make sure all services are up and running and dont rush!! We have not regretted a a single minute of living here (nearly 3 years now)

I think Valentines will be able to help you out. Good luck! You wont regret moving here.

Hello

Re: Relocations South to North. I'm having meetings this week to get clarification of the procedures involved, making sure that these Removals can be done withiin everyone's rules with the minimum amount of hassle. So far it's looking positive, so I will be in a position to accept enquiries very soon.

It's still business as usual though, with full containers, part loads and frequent groupage, vehicles and boats too. Door to door service with packing and export wrapping available. Please email for an inventory sheet to 'quantify' your move.

All the best

Jo Valentine
